ive tried to make a backup of the assanation of jesse james but the dvd will not play ive tried full dvd or just main movie and it finalizes it but the dvd will not play when i put the copied dvd in dvd fab it plays in the preview like it would make a copy of it any help would be appreciated

Are you bitsetting the disc to -ROM instead of leaving it at +R?

Hi tlawson24 and welcome to cdfreaks,

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Matshita (Panasonic) burners are problematic... just plain crappy. Sorry nothing personal intended here. Panasonic is very proprietary...offers abysmal firmware support, have region lock problems, etc, etc.
For years, Fengtao posted a disclaimer on his homepage that his software would not support matshita drives.

For starters, I very much doubt that this burner and firmware is capable of handling the MKM 003 verbs.
Have you burned these previously in the matshita with any success? or
is this the only movie you've tried with the MKM 003?

Are you able to compress main movie to fit on an SL disc?
I have platinum so I'm not familiar with Gold's features.

I guess the first thing I'd do is look around for a firmware update
I don't know the manufacturer of your laptop. As I said, firmware is often hard to find for these.

Will the movie play ok from the hdd with a software player such as VLC, WMP, powerdvd?
My guess is that it will.
