Re: DVD 5 vs DVD 9

DVD5 is a single layer disc (4,37 GiB)
DVD9 is double layer disc (7,92 GiB)

so if you want to burn your movie to a SL disc choose DVD5, of DL choose DVD5

Re: DVD 5 vs DVD 9

I am not going to burn it to a disc. I'll just leave it on my hard drive and delete it later on.

Hi santaprayer
if you want to copy the movie to your hard drive and keep the Quality and burn to a DVD9 later then select the DVD9, BUT if you will be burning the movie onto a DVD5 disc then you may want to select DVD5 this way DVDFab can compress it down to fit the SL disc....it is up to you.
I and other DVDFab users have compress at 60% and can't see that much difference during playback

EDIT...just seen you last post after typing this SO ..just select DVD9

Re: DVD 5 vs DVD 9

If you have enough space on your HDD choose DVD9. DVD9 will need no trancoding so, the ripping will be much faster, but the result will take up to 8 GiB. DVD5 will take only 4,37 GiB, but the movie needs to be recompressed, so it will take longer and the quality may get a little worse.

Re: DVD 5 vs DVD 9

just use dvd-9

if you need to make it smaller, or burn it to a dvd-5 later on, just mount it to a virtual drive, and transcode it down to a dvd-5
