DVDFab / DVD Region+CSS Free Discuss, Don't buy DVDFAB at Copy Movie forum; I was thinking of buying DVDFAB . I thought I had read that you get upgrades for life, but I can't find that post now. Is that true? You purchase DVDFAB and then get any upgrades for the rest of your life? Was that a joke?

Re: Don't buy DVDFAB

Hi,

Free lifetime upgrade is definitely not a joke for DVDFab. If you know the many new features added in DVDFab 3 from DVDFab 2, you will know that.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

The purchase terms and conditions are on the website at www.dvdfab.com. It says Free Lifetime Upgrades, which I take to mean the lifetime of the product. Will you get updates until the day you die? No.

Yes, and I appreciate the upgrades.

But the same promise was made for DVD Region+CSS Free, DVD Region+CSS Free Lite, DVDIdle, and DVDIdle Pro, and it's been a long time since they were updated, so it should be easy to understand why someone would have doubts about that promise for DVDFab Platinum and DVDFab Gold.

James

lifetime updates or upgrade refers to the product and those products are no longer being sold ending their lifetime, the lifetime is not your lifetime but the products

lol StormJumper.

But you know it did not mean that. James is just trying to get a response regarding the DVDIdle products.

Yes, I realize that such promises for software normally refer to the lifetime of the product, not for the lifetime of the purchaser.

But who wrote that those products' lifetimes are over? The last that I read from Fengtao about these products (several months ago), updates were still planned for them.

Also, on the http://www.dvdidle.com/order.htm?s=region page, it says:
Quote:
Note:

To purchase DVD Region+CSS Free, DVD Region+CSS Free Lite and DVDIdle Pro, DVDIdle, the online store will be back as soon as possible. For now, you can use the trial version for 90 days.
Please check this web page later.
Okay, if those products' lifetimes are over, then I can live with that, but I'd appreciate some official indication of that.

If their lifetimes aren't over, then when can we expect the next update?

Regards,
James

Re: Don't buy DVDFAB

PS:

What can we expect the lifetimes of DVDFab Gold and DVDFab Platinum to be? And if they suddenly "die" and the company offers a replacement product, then will the purchasers be some discount in upgrading to the replacement product?

James

Re: Don't buy DVDFAB

Why worry so much about things that you have no personal control over. Consider them gone and if they are revived in the future think how happy you'll be.
As for the Fab Platinum which I love and own a key to for 5 months now, If it died tomorrow I'd be upset and disappointed and even more so if I didn't know for sure if it would ever come back or be updated again but I figure that I for sure got my moneys' worth and I'd move on and look for something else to take it's place. I'd check back from time to time on it's status.
You really can't expect the authors of this software to reply to questions when they dont know the answers and to do so would only open a new can of worms and add fuel to the fire.

No real way to predict an answer to either of the questions you posed. I would expect an offer similar to what was done when DVDFab Gold/Platinum 2.9xxx became 3.0xxx, free or cheap, or some such. I would not expect G/P to be just discontinued anytime soon, as it seems to be selling well with lots of new users coming in and frequent updates still flowing.

/EDIT/ Well said Ron.

Thanks Paul. I really don't like this thread and hate to get involved but I consider myself lucky to have even found this software. The authors are people too.

Re: Don't buy DVDFAB

I feel the same way and I have sympathy for the users who feel they have nowhere to turn. I really think eventually something will be done to resolve this. Fengato has been too honorable in other matters (he gave free keys to many of the people that got ripped off by his former agents at dvdfab.uk) for me to believe he will not do something for these folks. Just my opinion, no inside dope.

If Fengtao doesn't know when the products will be updated, then he could post something like "I don't know, but updates are still planned." I'd think that that would damp down the fire a bit.

Even if updates are planned, a discount for upgrading to DVDFab Gold or DVDFab Platinum could be offered to those who have already paid for the un-updated products.

If the current situation just continues, then I expect that the fire will continue to grow, further damaging the authors' reputations.

Regards,
James

Re: Don't buy DVDFAB

By the way, I don't like this thread either, because the products are truly excellent and I hate to see potential buyers being discouraged from purchasing them.

But I can understand that those who've paid out their hard-earned money only to see their un-updated applications becoming more and more obsolete, even though DVDFab Platinum and Gold, from the same company, are still updated frequently, are likely to be disgruntled. Who can blame them for complaining?

Regards,
James

This thread runs like a cheap soap opera. We ought to consider dividing it into episodes.

It is not fair to expect that they divert the manpower and resources from their revenue making product and dedicate it to life time improvement and update of free of charge products. Then how they are going to survive?
