I have made 6 Duel Layer Backups of some of my movies, When I played them in the DVD Writer it will play, but they will not play in any other dvd drive, my other PC one or any other of my home player, I have let 3 differnt friends try them in there players they have at home also, and none of them can play them either, I downloaded the beta version that was in a previous post that says it has better layer break removal, but that has not worked either.Can some one help me.

I bought DVDFAB(DVDFAB GOLD, now) before they even had a burning engine in it and when they gave it a burning engine, I has the most satisfied custer they had, (probably not, but close enough, lol). I have never had a problem copying single layer dvds with fab ever, but I can not get a Duel layer to burn yet, and since the price of duel layers have dropped like almost half price as they used to be when i first bought my DL Drive, I thought I would just back them up on one disk instead of splitting them on 2 disks. ( I hate compressed stuff, so this is not a option for me).

I play my dvds on my PC so its not a real problem, I bought a 26" HDTV widescreen Monitor, so Its no big deal, other then I cant let anyone else watch it or take into another room or take wit with me, since they won't play on anything else, So I would like to see if i can make them play on other players if I can.

I have tried makeing A image file and burning it with Alcohol 120% also and it wont even play in my writer, lol.

This is what I use.
DVDFAB GOLD 2.9.7.0 and Beta 2.9.7.0 (Set to detect the best writing speed, And to do Duel Layer Burns in the Options)
LITE-ON SHOW 16335 (Newest Firmware Installed)
Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x speed.

Well you are using the correct dual layer blanks However are you bitsetting the discs before burning , a lot of players have trouble reading dual layer discs if not bitsett
Have not used fab but I do use shrink and dvd region free (have not yet encountered a disc I could not backup yet) Shrink will remove the layer break when ripped in file mode , I then use discjuggler to burn which auto bitsetts the disc and they will play on all my friends drives perfectly . at this stage region free works on all au movies good work fengtao

Could be the standalone player itself - is it rated for DL burns? Even with the bitsetting changed to "dvd rom", my Panny sometimes will not play the DL backup - but most of time it does. Really its not even rated for +R, which it does play, +DL(which they are), feel lucky it plays even some.

To me sounds more like disc compatability I am fairly confident bitsetting the discs will be a good start.

Going to: http://www.vso-software.fr/download.php and downloading VSO Inspector then use it to check your burns. It is free and will query to their database of 1.4 million burns to give you % of success on your burner etc. It will scan DVD and do a read test, best of all it is free. Fab uses VSO burning engine.

Thanks guys you were right, It was the booktype setting, I downloaded a changer from lite-on that they released and changed it to dvdrom and burned with DvdFab gold, and it works in all my dvd players, my ps2, and it also works in my friends players as well.

Hope if someone else is haveing this problem, this can help them too.
