DVDFab / DVD Region+CSS Free Discuss, clone mode question at Copy Movie forum; does the copy dvd-video data tick box have any effect in clone mode ? I've been using clone to backup some game discs to an external hard drive & I've a feeling that I've left that box ticked for some of them - so do I need to

Copy DVD-Video Data Only: This small checkbox prevents DVDFab from copying DVD-ROM or other non-movie content (such as the JACKET_P folder or other files) from the original during the clone process. This will also prevent studio-supplied players (InterActual, etc.)from being included on the backup.
the best solution would be to try one and find out.

with game discs you may not find out until you are a long way into the game!

Anyway, I've redone them all with the box unticked; they are now on my hard drive as backups. I don't plan to burn any unless I need to as they need expensive DL media.

what I am creating is backups of burned games which came with my modded xbox360 from ebay.

there is no brand name on the game discs, but the media code reads as RIOCHJPN which I think is reasonable quality.

they have all copied OK with clone, though a couple of the reads slowed down alarmingly around 99%

Yes, it does. You can check the game disc with windows explorer. If you see any file or folder other than the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, UNcheck the box for copying.

Re: clone mode question

thnks, I've tried unscuessfully to set the UI so that clone appears with that box unticked, but what happens is this:

I launch fab & select clone - so far so good, - but then when I insert a source disc it begins to scan media & resets to full disc - & helpfully auto-ticks the dvd-video data box at the same time.!

So then I have to re-select clone & untick the box all over again.

Do you have Clone moved to the top position in the Navigation pane? I've never had it jump modes like that.

Re: clone mode question

The only thing it would effect is computer extras I believe. If you want a 100% backup you should copy the entire disc.

no it's not my top choice,
I have customise at the top as that is the mode that I most use.
I guess that putting clone at the top or completely diabling autorun would fix this issue .

Re: clone mode question

just to check i tried it with clone mode at the top. three times, the Copy Dvd Video Data Only box was marked when i started dvdfab. even though i de-selected this feature.

as dvdfab is a video-dvd program, having this box checked by default (and to automatically revert back) seems to be the best choice.

I think you will find having it at the top will stop the mode jumping. The default of processing the VIDEO_TS folder only will always be there anytime DVDFab re-initializes (i.e. when you put in a disc). I have Customize at the top too, it is DVDFab's most powerful and flexible mode.

customise is great, but is there any way to make it start up with all the titles ticked, & not just with only one title ticked ?

sometimes a DVd has dozens of useful titles & just a couple of that are not worth backing up, and it's a chore to have to tick lots n lots of boxes.

Hi cyb
There is no way that I know of. I'm not sure I would want this feature on some discs--if I'm adding that many titles I just use Full Disc. Maybe let it auto select all titles over 15:00 playing time or, better yet, let the auto select logic be customized (with a play time slider) on the Customize mode page in Common Settings. This would be good for TV episode discs. I could really go for that. The Title Select works the same as Main Movie now (longest play time).

....Yup, I agree. I'm much more likely to use Customize Mode to strip most titles rather than add titles.
As signals said, if I wish to retain features, it's much less labor intensive to bkup in Full Disc Mode and take advantage of PP's capability to alter the play order and still strip annoyances such as the FBI warning.

I generally look for the easy way out...
