Chapters out of order - most movies

Is there a reason why a movie would play chapters out of order (start with chapter 8 or 9) instead of starting at the beginning on a DVD player? All of the chapters are on the DVD-RW though. It will play just fine on my computer, but not on TV DVD player.

We Are Marshall is ripped with DVD Fab (4.0.1.2) to my hard drive. Then I used DVD Shrink to write it to a DVD-RW - movie only.

When I play it, it skips to a later chapter, not the beginning. This is a recent problem, it didn't occur a month or so ago.

Some movies do this, some do not. We Are Marshall does, Live Free or Die Harder does, but Rome Season 2 did not, nor did Transformers.

Any ideas?

Probably lousy media or the standalone's laser needs a clean.

Is it the burned disc or the ripped folder that plays OK on the PC? Try both if you haven't.

Hi Slappy_K,

You can try to play the DVD folder created by DVDFab to make sure if it's a DVDFab problem or others.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

As I said, lousy media.

Change to Verbatim or TY.

Yes - I just tried it and it plays fine. It played all the way from the start, through the "previews", into the movie title page - no problem. Odd though, it only seems to be this movie (We are Marshall) and "The Invisible".

Both - the burned disk plays fine on the PC and the ripped folder plays fine too. Just problems with "out of order" chapters when playing on DVD player for TV. No other disk have problems - just We Are Marshall and The Invisible.

Re: Chapters out of order - most movies

Your media is not suited to your player. Sigh....

Change to decent media like TY or Verbatim.

Regards

Re: Chapters out of order - most movies

I've run into "almost" the same thing as of late. ISO image plays fine. Burned DVD's start at end credits, mid movie or elsewhwere, whether on the computer or in the standalone player (though both WinDVD and the standalone DVD player indicate they are starting at chapter 1). Have been able (after much experimentation) to resolve thus far by opening the image in DVD Shrink and having it create an ISO (from the first uncompressed ISO that was originally created with DVDFAB HD Decryptor) and burn with DVD Decrypter (rather than Nero). Have recently changed from Nero 6 to Nero 8 but am not sure if that's truly when the issue reared it's ugly head. I first thought it was another copy protection method but am really beginning to place the blame on Nero (8) or some screwed up settings within Nero.
