Cannot make a copy of a wedding DVD!!!

I have backed up about 30 different bought movies with NO problems until today (GREAT product folks )
I live in New York and a cousin sent me a DVD from his wedding in Poland that was made by a professional studio there. I try to play it in my DVD player and it has black lines flipping through it. So it maybe a region issue or it could be a PAL to NTSC issue.
I put the DVD in my computer with a Sony DRU-820A burner and with DVDFABPLAT set on customize the little view screen in the bottom left corner previews it perfectly. I set the region code to eastern europe (to remove the region code) and burned it set to full disc but the copy still has the black lines flipping through it real fast when I try to watch it on my DVD player hooked up to my TV.
Any ideas how to back up the DVD?

Thanks, JPNSKI

Re: Cannot make a copy of a wedding DVD!!!

I would think it is a PAL DVD. You can convert it but that is more trouble tha it is worth for me anyway. I bought a player that is code free and converts PAL to NTSC for a bout $50 shipped. Works great and picture is different size kindof like a 4:3 wide screen with black box around the picture on my NTSC WS..

Re: Cannot make a copy of a wedding DVD!!!

It seems to me that it probably copied just fine, but as bigmacnc wrote, it's probably PAL and your player can't handle it.

Maybe you can view it on your PC?

James

With PAL the number of video lines and the scan rate are different, which is where the black lines are coming from I think. Find a post by Maineman and download VLC player (it's free) and that should be able to handle it on a PC, you will need a Multistandard player if you want to watch it on a US TV.
