Can only Burn to DVD+RW - Club CDFreaks

Been using DVDFab since 3.0 and really enjoying how easy it is to burn movies, normally when I upgrade I have very few problems if any, but 5.0.2.5 has me baffled. I can only burn to DVD+RW, have tried everything that has worked in the past to correct the problem, no luck.
Been reading threads and tutorial, tried clean install per instructions, still having same problem get error message Task_2failed error=116. I read a post with similer error message, (how do you get to the general tab?) As I'm sure you can tell I'm no rocket scientist when it comes to these things, any help will be greatly appreciated.

To get to the general tab, click on the green check mark next to the ? mark on the top right hand side of the screen and then on the left hand top of page you will see the general click on it

sorry to tell you this, but you have a crappy drive.

do a web search for DS8AZH, and there are many negative comments. even several reports exactly like yours.

i would not put too much effort trying to burn with this drive. even if you are successful i would trust the results.

so first id try lowering the burn speed, go 6x then 4x and 2x if this doesnt work with the verbatim 16x dvd+r then you could possibly try some -r's. but you may have to just try every media you can find until you get lucky. some report being able to burn on cheaper media.

it would just be easier to get an external lite-on dvd writer.

Guess It was just coincidence that this started when I upgraded to 5.0. I don't understand why it burns perfectly on DVD+RW and not on Verbatim DVD+R. Was able to burn on all brands of discs in the past. Maybe I have worn it out I have burned hundreds of movies on this drive.

I read in the post prior to yours that the drive was dirty, can it be cleaned like a VCR?

I really appreciate your help. I will try your suggestions.

You can buy a cd/ dvd cleaner which is on a disc to clean it, stay away from anything that uses a liquid though, but like what Troy said this isn't a very good burner, myself I would get a new one from Newegg.com or Meritline.com as they are pretty cheap nowdays

or you can try what lucieloo, from forum.notebookreview.com, did with his Slimtype DVD A DS8AZH drive. but i wouldnt recommend doing this unless you are going to, or have already ordered a new drive.

I can only burn to DVD+RW, have tried everything that has worked in the past to correct the problem, no luck. Been reading threads and tutorial, tried clean install per instructions, still having same problem get error message Task_2failed error=116. I read a post with similer error message, (how do you get to the general tab?) As I'm sure you can tell I'm no rocket scientist when it comes to these things, any help will be greatly appreciated. troy512 CD Freak Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: tiny.cc/troysmovies Posts: 2,934	Re: Can only Burn to DVD+RW sorry to tell you this, but you have a crappy drive. do a web search for DS8AZH, and there are many negative comments. even several reports exactly like yours. i would not put too much effort trying to burn with this drive. even if you are successful i would trust the results. so first id try lowering the burn speed, go 6x then 4x and 2x if this doesnt work with the verbatim 16x dvd+r then you could possibly try some -r's. but you may have to just try every media you can find until you get lucky. some report being able to burn on cheaper media. it would just be easier to get an external lite-on dvd writer. __________________ Do yourself a favor and only use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim media.
