| avast! vs DVDFAB Gold HELP !!....I used the trial version of DVDFAB Platinum with GREAT success. I had NO problems what-so-ever. However it had more bells & whistles than I wanted. So, I purchased and downloaded DVDFAB GOLD from website. I received my key code & used the C&P method to activate my copy. While installing/activating it, avast! anti-virus program alerted me that the 'DVDFabGold3098.exe' file was a virus/worm and recommended that I move it into the 'CHEST'. I did as recommended, and when the program started...it crashed ! So I uninstalled it, redownloaded it and reinstalled it...same thing...so I uninstalled DVDFAB PLATINUM & GOLD and reinstalled GOLD again...but program still crashes. I am afraid to go any further with the installation and am afraid to allow the GOLD3098.exe file to continue with avast! telling me it is a virus/worm...has anyone had this problem before...has 'something' possibly 'hitched' a ride onto GOLD as I was downloading it from website?? (twice)...or is avast just not recognizing GOLD as a 'real' program....I have paid for a program that I cannot get to work and NOW also uninstalled Platinum...now I have nothing. |

| Re: avast! vs DVDFAB Gold There is a post somewhere in this forum about that, It's a false warning, some anti spyware programs are doing this. I went back 6 pages looking for it, but maybe somebody will pop in soon that knows where the thread is, hang tight

| Re: avast! vs DVDFAB Gold You might try doing a clean uninstall using StormJumpers instructions in his signature and then download it from this forum at the top of the page

| Re: avast! vs DVDFAB Gold Thanks...I rectified the problem...avast was the culprit. I 'paused' my shields (avast). Uninstalled the DVDFAB GOLD program, went to DVDFAB website and downloaded program once again (this time, because shields were paused, I noticed avast did not try to 'block' download), reinstalled program. DVDFAB GOLD came up as usual and seems to be working perfectly now. avast is ignoring DVDFAB and all is well in the kingdom !! [I take back all those terrible things that I was "thinking" about the program ] |
