Re: Audio Sync issue

I am having similar problems. I just bought DVDfab Platinum 4.0.3.2 yesterday without trying it out as I was in a rush to save the $30 but I see today that the date changes each day to indicate that the price is ending today. Got suckered in on that one . Oh well, leason learnt. I do love the simplicity of the interface and the device support and hope that the audio issues can be worked out.

I have used DVD Decrypter and DVDFab Decrypter for some time will absolutely great susccess so thought that DVDfab Platinum would be of the same great quality. I see that there are many posts regarding audio sync so I should have reviewed this forum first but expect that with time this will all be resolved as DVDfab has provided excellent support for their products which is another reason I didn't hestitate to make the purchase yesterday.

Back to the problem I am experiencing, I am trying to use the DVD to iPod to rip "Pirates of the Carribean 2" to use on my new iTouch. I have tried all the folowing to no avail and the audio is out of sync in all cases and worsens the farther you get into the movie. I have viewed the same files in QuickTime and iTunes with the same issues.

iTouch profile with default settings
iPod h264 5.5G with default settings
iPod mpeg4 with default settings
ipod h264 with default settings

I plan to also use it for my xbox 360 MCE extender so hope that I don't have audio synce issues there as well.

Re: Audio Sync issue

I am having the same issues here. I emailed tech support and let them know. They told me to check the forums. I did, and see there are quite a few people with the same problem. Hopefully a moderator will read this and fix the problem on the next release.

Re: Audio Sync issue

An interesting note: I made a copy of the movie to another DVD, then converted that DVD to my ITouch and it worked. This has got to be an encryption issue on the original movies!

I suspect this will happen on more Disney movies coming to DVD

Re: Audio Sync issue

You got a good deal (check the price of competing products with similar functions). It would help the developers if everyone would list the title and region of the discs with sync issues. No problems here.

Absolutely agree...

I've been converting to Ipod mpeg-4 for almost a year...had no idea what I was doing when I started and frankly, I don't know much more now.
The only failure I've ever had was with the old AC3/1 audio, typical of the old Bogey, Tarzan (Johnny Weissmuller) movies (btw, it was signals who discovered this problem).
Ting had it fixed in roughly 3 days with a new release...

I just tried Pirates 3...R1, WS with v.4.0.3.2. Conversion is perfecto as always...no av sync issues.

Here's a screenshot of my default settings:

Re: Audio Sync issue

Once I get it working it will be an awesome price.

As mentioned previous, I am trying to rip "Pirates of the Caribbean" but fogot to mention it is Region Code 1 .

The problem exists regarless of bit rate or mobile device. I have tried the xbox360, generic avi.xvid, ipodTouch, ipod.mpeg4, ipod.h264 and all have the identical problem. The audio is actually above 3-4 seconds ahead of the video.

I downloaded the trial version of AnyDVD and CloneDVDMobile and everything works perfectly.

I also tried copying the DVD to the hard drive and then use the HD version to copy to my iTouch and that didn't work. Grande7 was successful after making a anothe copy ot the disc first but not sure what method was used to make the copy of the disc.

I tried cloning the DVD to another DVD and didn't expect this to work and it didn't.

I wonder if grande7 was onto something about the encryption but not exactly sure what was done to make the copy that made it all work.

Sorry if I offended you as I do very much prefer the interface as it is one my DW can use and will be exstatic once we figure our what problem I and others appear to be having. I fully agree it is a fantastic price and product once I am able to successfulyl copy DVDs to my iTouch.

Me too.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried your settings and still have the same problem of audio being about 3 seconds ahead of the video. Here were my last round of settings. Appreciate you trying.

Re: Audio Sync issue

Happy to try to help, but as I mentioned, my knowledge on this particular process is minimal at best. I certainly have seen others with av sync problems, some of whom were helped with tweaks from Ting and still others continue to experience this persistent av async. I'm at a loss to explain it.

Signals is one of the best resources for this stuff that you'll find on the forum and Ting (Fengtao's mobile expert)) is very helpful and responsive to user problems. As you know, the more details you can provide, the better.

Oh, and you certainly didn't say anything offensive...

Hope you get this worked out.

Re: Audio Sync issue

Maybe this helps

Pirates of the Carribean 2 (PC2) was my first every DVD to copy using DVDFab. I successfully copied the 1st chapter of Perl Harbour and then another WD movie, Remember the Titans. I used both the default ipodTouch and the settings that maineman provided and all worked without audio sync issues.

PC2 is the newest WD movie we have. And Titans is the next in line.

So for now, my only issues are with PC2.

Re: Audio Sync issue

Just a random thought...
I seem to remember having some sort of issue last spring, but can't recall the specifics. I do remember that it went smoothly by first ripping the dvd to a hdd and then converting it. You've probably tried this, but if not, it may be worth a shot. While it's not really a fix, it only adds a few minures to the process so it's not a bad workaround...if it works.

Re: Audio Sync issue

MDW correct me. We have "Pirates of the Carribean 1". It also has problems but no where near as bad. The audio is about 0.5-1 second faster then the video compared to 3-4 for PC2. I rechecked the Titans and Perl Harbour and they are bang on. So it might be with newer Walt Disney or just Pirates of the Carribean. We don't own anything newer right now from WD.

Re: Audio Sync issue

Just out of curiosity do you guys rip to the hard drive before making your MP4? I always do this, especially on those with convoluted file structures (like Disney), and start with cleaned up files. I don’t seem to have this problem, but that could be dumb luck.

Re: Audio Sync issue

I've done it both ways successfully, but like you, maybe it was dumb luck.
To answer your question...yes, I do.
It only takes a few minutes to rip, so it doesn't really add much to the overall time.

Absolutely the best support services I have ever seen.

This has fixed my sync problems with Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2.

A very happy new year to Fengtao.

Re: Audio Sync issue

I'm sorry to say that after upgrading from 4.0.2.something to 4.0.3.5 beta I now have an A/V sync issue when converting episodes of The West Wing Series 3 to ipod. The first episode on disk 5 looses audio sync about 20 minutes in, the second and third episodes are fine throughout,

Re: Audio Sync issue

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I followed the suggestions of others and decided to preform all my DVD to Mobile after first copying a moive to HDD.

I copied Pirates of the Caribbean 2 from DVD to HDD first using DVD5 Full Disc and then from that HDD source to my iTouch and the audio sync reappeared.

I then tried DVD9 Full Disc to HDD thinking that the compression might have something to do with it and from that HDD source to iTouch and again the audio sync issue arose.

I then tried DVD9 Main Movie to HDD and from that HDD source to iTouch and that was successful.

I then tried DVD5 Main Movie to HDD and from that HDD source to iTouch and that was successful.

I also tried Cloning to HDD in ISO format and from that HDD source to iTouch and that too was successful

I tried directly from DVD to iTouch and that too was successful.

Its not a big deal as I have a number of workable solutions but thought everyone might want to know of the minor inconveniences that still exist with DVD to Full Disc that in rare instances might cause audio sync issues.
