Hello Roxygenie and welcome to the forum
When DVDFab does any compression it will compress any and all files that are to be burned to the blank DVD5 disc
Also if you are using defult settings you may want to change the write settings in common settings-->write

Write Speed: 4X or 8X
DVD Writeable Media: DVD-5 Size 4472 ( less compression )
Write Type: SAO
Check Booktype To DVD-ROM ( only for DVD+R/RW Media )

Re: Audio Compression

Hello StormJumper, thank you for your welcome. First excuse my poor English because I'm a Frenchtalking Belgian ;-)

It appears (I think) that using DVDShrink, the audio files are not compressed, only the video files. So the audio files stay "as it". But, as DVDShrink is not continued to be updated, I decided to buy DVDFab Platinum a few days ago. So I would want to know if I copy a DVDVideo with DVDFab on a DVD5, the quality of the sound can be decreased.

A few days ago, I copied a concert DVDVideo on a DVD5 with DVDFab. If all was running well, I think (I feel) that the sound of the copy is not the same, but it's perhaps just a feeling, not a reality. I really don't know, so I ask you...

Do you understand what I want to say ? Can you answer my question ?

Thank you

Re: Audio Compression

I'm not convinced that fab compresses the audio files. It would be technically easier to just compres the video, as there's little space saving to be gotten from compressing the audio + it could lead to synch problems. there are options to exclude unwanted audio streams, these could casue playback from your copy to sound different depending on what you have selected and on what audio processing your DVDplayer carries out .
There's nothing in common settings for otherwise managing audio compression though but I guess you could chek by extracting only the DvD audio from both original and compressed copy then compare the file sizes. One other clue: I note that the Generic DVD to mobile option by default leaves the audio unaltered.

Re: Audio Compression

When compressing a DVD so it can fit on a DVD5, DVDFab will not touch the audio. I don't know of any compressors which touch the audio.

Re: Audio Compression

Re: Audio Compression

Ok it was probably just an impression, and I hope it. But cybmole's idea is probably a good one : check the file size when extracting audio only and compare it with a DVD9 to DVD5 one. I will try it, and will tell you.

Thank you for all.
