Alien resurrection copy problems with DVDfab

PLEASE HELP ME!!! I have the alien Quadrilogy set and am trying to back it up. None of the discs would backup the whole disc so i've had to resort to just the movie bit. I've finally managed to backup Alien, Aliens & Alien 3 but Alien resurrection just won't back up. I've tried the full disc and just the movie with little success. I've had my home dvd player saying "wrong disc" even though i've checked the region settings and although on occasion I've managed to burn a dvd that eventually plays on my pc dvd it won't play an any others. Any ideas? - I'm currently using the latest 30 day trial of DVD fab gold with the intention of buying the full version when I can work out why it's not working properly.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

Re: Alien resurrection copy problems with DVDfab

Suggest you try the 3.0.4.6 beta as it may address copy protection issues found on the collection you are trying to backup.

Hi Buzz222 and welcome to cdfreaks,

How exactly is the process failing?
For eg.,
Do the movies rip to your hdd ok?...any specific error message(s)?
Are you able to view the files from your hdd with vlc, nero showtime, powerdvd, etc...?
Do the bkups play in your standalone?

Re: Alien resurrection copy problems with DVDfab

COME ON FOLKS!! YOU MUST GIVE EXACT ERRORS WHEN REPORTING PROBLEMS!! ARG!!!

I too can't copy Alien Resurrection (Disc 7). I'm using DVDFab Platinum 3.1.5.0 and this error occurs during the analysis phase.....

Analyzing of DVD started
Task_1 failed! Error=400(10 7 2044401 2044400)
Process Failed!

Bug report... the "Save" button to save the log report never actually writes a file anywhere that I can see.

As you probably know...error 400 = general transcoding error, very non-specific and doesn't tell the user much. This could be anything from a bad press, scratched or dirty disc, to a decrypting failure.

The specific error code however, is very useful to Fengtao.
I would suggest sending the .IFO files and error code to him.
Here's how to send the .IFO files:

1) Open an Explorer window, and navigate to VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD.
2) Copy all files ending with .IFO to hard disk.
3) ZIP the IFO files on hard disk to one file. Name it with a readable filename, eg., To Have and Have Not_R1.zip.
4) Send the zip file to fengtao(at)dvdidle.com, you need replace (at) with @.

He's very good about getting back to users re: specific errors.
In the interim, here's a few ideas to try...

In Common Settings > Read,
Tick Ignore all reading errors automatically.
Untick Enable read-ahead cache.
If you haven't already, try to rip with another optical drive

I don't have this flick, otherwise I'd give it a shot.

Hope this helps.
