but i will make a point to call the movie industry and ask them if video store owners are allowed to open and sell/keep dvds theyve had shipped to them before the official release date.
I had a hard time trying to find " The Movie Industrys" phone number. Let me know what they say.

Re: 3:10 To Yuma

Personally I like when people get the new releases early, so if theres a problem backing it up, it'll most likely be fixed by the retail release date.

The OPs original problem could be caused by bad media or a dozen other things. If we cant see the .ifos we cant help, can we. If you want to speculate that this movie will be a problem, then do so, I will wait until its released to everyone before I will make a judgement on whether it a problem or not, and even if it is, it ususally fixed in a matter of hours.

Good points you make.
But sometimes if you see more than one post that theres a problem with an early release dvd, the odds are good that there is really a problem. So, I welcome the early release problem posts, so we can start gearing up.

I don't have any problems, per se, with posts about unreleased flicks. Generally, I just don't find them useful unless it's to say that it ripped ok.
Again, I'm not bashing the OP for his post. I just don't think there's much chance of pooling any real data since virtually no one has it.

I'm with Alan on this one...

Just used it on brand new movie. With pathplayer disabled it loaded, took a long time to analize, copied and skipped 80 sectors as unreadable, then said burn was sucessful, but did play.
Enabled pathplayer, everything went smooth as silk, played great.
Thanks guys.
This was on main movie only, I just now checked the copy and it does jump to chapter 2. I'll send in the IFO's

Re: 3:10 To Yuma

Hi Guys and girls- Its nice to know if someone has trouble backing up a dvd. The problem is numerous- could be different regions, protection or just a badly mastered disk or your computer. I see people saying they backup at 4X which I think is ridiculous to use a 20X writer at 4X. If you use good media like verbatim or sony then you should have no problems.
Thanks to the original thread starter -so we know we may have a problem backing up this dvd. Good Luck to ALL.

Re: 3:10 To Yuma

The orginal plays fine, I just hate to go through all the introduction and skip past 6 previews to get to the movie. But when it loads up it skips 80 unreadable secters. If you burn "main movie" it starts at 5 minutes into it.

Did you try to turn on PathPlayer and turn off the read ahead cache? Try playing with the options and see if it helps.

That's the most sensible post here.

If people get early releases then it's impossible for others to examine the problem until the disc is released.

If you are lucky enough to obtain pre-releases then my advice would be count your blessings and be patient in the event of difficulties.

After all, all the rest of us have to wait so it can't be too difficult to have to do the same for the odd problem title.

Very true as it's definitely useful to have an early warning of difficult discs.

Also the IFO's etc can be emailed allowing developers to potentially work on the problems in advance.
