Pioneer DV-530 start playing sound from TV when music CD stops.

Hi all.
I have a problem with my newly bought DVR-530H-S.
Currently I use this device for all my CD and DVD needs. I play mysic and films with it. So to my question.
When I play a music cd, and it comes to the end and stops, the player starts playing sounds from the current TV channel the tuner is tuned in to. It's quite anoying that after "Hung up" with madonna, we get weather forecasts and local news on high volume. A real party killer, I can tell you.
Is this a feature I missed when seting up the player, or is this how it supose to do?
Anyone got any ideas on the matter?

Welcome to the forum, Svips

What it seems like is that your TV only shows the picture from your DVD player if it detects a high on Scart pin-8 (assuming your unit is connect via Scart). This is quite common with most DVD players and other set-top equipment connected by Scart.

When a TV detects voltage on pin-8, it should automatically switch over to the AV input that your DVD player is connect to. However, when your DVD player finishes playing its disc, it looks like it also cuts the voltage on pin-8. As a result, some TVs will automatically switch back to the last tuned TV channel once it no longer detects this voltage on pin-8.

There are a couple of things you can try, which depends from TV to TV:
  1. Switch the TV to AV before turning on the DVD player. With most TVs that I'm aware of, if the TV is on AV to start with, it will not change to another channel once the connected equipment is powered off or if voltage is no longer detected on pin-8.
  2. If the above does not help, change to an untuned TV channel before using the DVD player. Most TVs mute the noise from an untuned TV channel, which means that if the TV switches back once the disc stops, you'll just get a silent snowy picture.
  3. In the worse case scenario, put the disc in 'Repeat-all' mode. The music still start over once the disc finishes, however this shouldn't be as intrusive as when it returns to a loud TV channel.

Re: Pioneer DV-530 start playing sound from TV when music CD stops.

Thanx for the fast reply.
I wrote the question in a hurry, so I was i little bit unprecise. Sorry.
It's got nothing to do with my TV. The sound after the cd stops comes from the channel that the tuner in the recorder is tuned in to. So I guess your number 3 will always apply as the cd repeat itself over and over again and never stops.
Didn't think of that...
But it would have been better if the recorder didn't output any sound at all from other devices when an audio cd is in the drive. At least until you switch to HDD and the recorder asumes youre gonna record.

Ah, at first I thought your Pioneer was just a DVD player.

VCR's typically show the last tuned in channel when the tape is stopped or comes to an end and the same goes with most DVD recorders, including my LiteOn LVW-5045, so this seems quite standard.

In this case, one other thing you can try is to switch your Pioneer to an AV input that has nothing hooked up to it (such as the front AV inputs), before you start playing a disc. Once the disc reaches its end, the player should show up this blank silent AV channel.

Usually when I play CDs, I just let them come to an end, however I know a lot of people love to set their CD player to repeat-all intentionally, so having the first song restart (until you get time to change the disc) wouldn't be so bad. Particularly by that time, your guests probably would have forgotten that the song has already been played an hour ago when the disc was first put in.

4. Tune to an unused input (AVS, L1, L2). The TV set shouldn't do anything as there is no signal. Not even noise :-).
