In the Pioneer English Manual (P57) it refers to the Bottom Left button of the remote control as a way to remotely switch the external inputs to the recorder i.e AV2/L1 L2 DV etc. This does not appear to work as I connected a composite input to the front of the recorder but could only get it to switch by using the manual buttons on the recorder.

If I program the remote for the TV I have (Sony) the button switches the TV AV's proving the remote button is working at least.

Any ideas??

Secondly I have not been able to get the recorder to make chapters in any recording. When I record and play back then press the >>> Next button it just goes to the end of the recording, with only 1 chapter.

In the set up I have RECORDING - Video Mode on, Chapter 10 Mins

Ah well for anyone that reads this I now have an answer from the manufacturer.

The button was shown incorrectly in the manual and is actually in a different place, they managed to hide it above the Channel up down button!

As for auto chapter creation the recorder can only create chapters when recording to DVD disc, and then only in Video Mode, no chapters will be created when recording to HDD. That is a shame really as the Liteon Recorder I have does it automatically.

Hey Alan, was just in the process of registering so I could part answer your question when you beat me to it. Don't usually hang around this form (use DigitalSpy) but was googling to find out If the 530 could record to dual layer DVDs when I spotted your questions.

Looks like you've already found out that some of the buttons on the remote don't necessarily work as described. I've got a Tosh. TV and the bottom left button goes into surround setup when pressed. Was going to answer the chapter Q. but looks like Tech.support beat me to it. Have you discoered that by editing out the adverts in a program you can get the same affect as chapters i.e pressing >> will go the the advert edit spot.
