DVR-330 MN Quality/Record time

I just purchased a DVR-330 which has the 32 step MN Quality/record time mode.

I have several video tapes which I want to transfer to DVD. I select an MN mode closest to the lenghth of the tape eg 1hr30min. I set the tape playing then hit record on the DVR. All goes well and the count down can be seen on the display.

I leave and come back somtime later and check the recording and find that it has not stopped at 1hr30min but has continued for some time; today it went on until there was 5 hours on the disk 1hr 30 of the tape and 3hr 30 of black.

Am I wrong in thinking that in the MN mode it will only record for the selected time?

Am I doing somthing wrong?

I have contacted pioneer with little result.

I have changed the unit and this one is worse the other only added 40min of black.

Re: DVR-330 MN Quality/Record time

Did you ever sort this out.
I have also just purchased a 330 and wish to know how to create chapters and have them show up as a thumbnail.
Do you know if this can be done?

Re: DVR-330 MN Quality/Record time

@trackerau: The quality steps have nothing to do with an automatic time control. It simply shows how much programme time fits on a dvd. MN32 means 60 minutes. MN25 means 95 minutes etc. You are the one who starts and stops the recorder.

CHPMRK is your friend. Or you go to the disk manager and select EDIT.
