Hi,

I'm new to this forum but have come here in a desperate search of some help to get my Philips CDR 765 repaired.

I bought my CDR 765 in the UK in either 1998 or 1999 and it has given me years of great service.
But recently the unit powers down after around 10mins of recording, then it tries to power up again and then down and back and forth till it just dies. Then you have to switch the main power button on the front off for a good few hours before u can either record again for 10mins or finalize the disc u were recording.

Now i have moved to Australia a few years back so i phoned Philips Australia to see if i could get the unit repaired.

I was told that the parts are no longer available but also if they COULD find the parts that it would most likely fail again in the next few months as they had had several cases recently where they have done the repairs and this is what has happened.

Now does anyone know anything that can help me? Please? I have a lot of vinyl that I was about to start recording to cd but now I'm stuck.

Can anyone help? Or should i think about buying a new CDR?

The only problem with that is finding a CDR in Australia!!!

If I do upgrade can anyone recommend a CDR? And a decent retailer that wont charge the earth to deliver to Australia if i have to get it from overseas?
