MOVIE ONLY DISC, FEATURES ONLY DISC & MULTI MOVIE DISC

HI

I know these maybe stupid questions to most members here but I'm gonna go head-on with them anyway.

There are 3 types of DVD copy / remake I wanna do:

A. MOVIE ONLY DISC plus relevant bonus features DIRECTLY RELATED to the movie
- "DIRECTLY RELATED to the movie" means only useful when playing the movie thus I want to keep these
- These include AUDIO COMMENTARY/IES for the movie, Pop-Up trivia tracks, branching, etc (you get the point!)
- After excluding NON related stuff (to be done on a separate disc), I need to alter FEATURES menu page in accordance to this

B. BONUS FEATURES ONLY DISC (movie disc to be done separately)
- I want to remove the BACK TO MAIN MENU link (& PLAY MOVIE link if it's there) & alter the FEATURES menu page in accordance to this
- I want to remove some Non-English audio streams & alter the LANGUAGE/SET-UP menu page in accordance to this
- I want to remove some Non-English subtitles streams & alter the LANGUAGE/SET-UP menu page in accordance to this

C. MULTI-MOVIE DISC e.g. 2-in-1, 3-in-1, etc
- When played, the default main menu should give me a choice of the films on the disc
- Only 1 English audio stream per movie
- I need to reduce the audio stream from the original 5.1 to 2.0 to free-up DVD disc space
- Only 2 subtitle streams per movie + Subtitle Off option
- I assume it's a similar procedure to squeeze 2-disc sets into one disc, right?

NOTE: Some of my DVDs to be used for the above are CSS/RCE protected.

So which software do I need to do the above ... other than DVDREMAKE (PRO)? I have NERO 7 / VISION EXPRESS 4 for DVD burning .. if there is a better buring application, let me know!

CHEERS!

Re: MOVIE ONLY DISC, FEATURES ONLY DISC & MULTI MOVIE DISC

A. You can do that with DvdReMake Pro. Hide the stuff you don't want. And hide unrelated buttons in Features menu. For replacing the menu background, check out the Customize menu background guide.

B. Same situation as above for removing the button graphic in the menu background. Hide the corresponding buttons as well. In the Main menu, you can use Bypass menu feature to jump to the Special Feature menu right away. The Features video is most likely in separate VTS, you can disable unwanted audio/subtitle streams at the VTS domain (Domain Content View).

I assume the purpose of doing A and B separately is to burn each onto DVD5. I think it's a lot easier to just compress it and not separate it. Or you just don't compress and burn to DVD9.

C. To merge 2-4 discs to one, use the Merge DVDs feature. You decide what to keep at the VTS level for audio/subtitle streams.

To convert 5.1 to 2.0, use an audio transcoder. More info here: Audio FAQ.

DvdReMake Pro works best with dvd files on HD, so CSS/RCE is probably already cleared by the ripper.

Other burning app you can try is Imgburn or Imgtool Classic.

Hi

Thanks for the reply/tips.

As for A + B, I intend to use separate DVD5s as Blank Double Layer discs are expensive (to me at least!) in my home country.

I basically had a quick read at the guides for A + B but C baffles me!

I'm talking about audio transcoding stuff on AUDIOCODING.COM. Can you or any other members pin-point to what part of the website can show me step-by-step guide to transcoding original DVD 5.1 audio to 2.0 stereo? State which software I need.

Also, what about other software like PGCEDIT, MENUEDIT, IFOEDIT, DVDSHRINK, MENUSHRINK, etc. Do I need these or any other?

Please do not cross-post in the other forum if you are asking the same questions.

Why would you want to go through the trouble of transcoding audio? The space savings is not even worth the effort and you won't notice any visual quality difference. Besides, this is not the only thing you have to do. You must demux the video, 5.1 audio, subtitles, and mux them back in with the 2.0 audio. And then you have to replace them back into the original.

A bunch of guides for your reading pleasure: http://www.videohelp.com/guides.

IMO, DVDShrink would be the easy option for you.
