Merging a split DVD I received a 2 disk set of a DVD that was split with DVDFAB. They work find in shrink and fab. I followed the instructions from here... dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/ht_merge1.php When I perform the export DVD, it appears to work. However if I try to open the files in Shrink I get the following error... "DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Invalid data int he file VTS_01_0.VOB" I tried also using DVDFAB, I open the files...I click Start and it just hangs.. on a couple of variations of merge process and I got error 400. Thanks in advance, tls1

Re: Merging a split DVD What version of DRMPro are you using? Have you tried playing the exported files using different software players? The DVDShrink error could mean several things. What specifically did you do in DvdReMake Pro regarding the menus? Are there any red highlight items before and after editing?

Re: Merging a split DVD I tried with version 3.4 and then with 3.5.3. At first with 3.4, I discovered that I could save but never open or export a project if there was any red. The app would simply die and close. With 3.5.3 I fixed up all the red to make it black. If I run it in debug mode it appears to work. I perform the test export and export and save project and even reopen the project and all appears to work. Of course the project is all black except to root title in orange because it is larger that 4.7G. I assume that is not the problem. Before editing there was red. Somehow in one of the menus there were 2 sets of buttons and the second set which was unused had 160 buttons. It took quite a while to delete them all. I did not try other players. No point, If I cannot compress it or burn it on a 4.7G then there's no point... Is there a tool to examine the VOB problem and diagnose the problem? thanks in advance, tls1

Re: Merging a split DVD Don't you have versions between 3.4 and 3.5.3? Do you know what a set of buttons mean? It is shown as a tab in the Preview window. Having 160 buttons is illegal and impossible in a menu. Dvd spec allows only 36 buttons for all button groups in a menu. Look in the buttons pane to see if there IS really 160 buttons in one of the button groups. Is this a 16:9 or 4:3 menu? Please list all the red highlight errors. The split discs by DVDFAB are probably corrupt or have authoring errors. It is better to use the original disc and compress instead, rather than trying to merge the corrupt discs. If you don't try other players (I mean software players), how do you know it's already fully functional before compressing?

Re: Merging a split DVD Obviously there was a problem somewhere. But there were 160 buttons! I had to remove them one by one. You know how long that takes? Unfortunatly I do not have the original as most who are attempting this type of task. Believe me, I do not wish to prove or disprove whether it works! If shrink and fab cannot open the dvd export then there is a high probability that there is a problem. Not say that it's a problem with Remake. But if I cannot compress it, then I cannot burn it on a 4.7G. Thanks for your help! I'l try again tomorrow and you informed!

Re: Merging a split DVD If you don't mind, load up all the IFOs and this menu vob without audio for disc 1 and disc 2, and zip them up in separate folder and upload somewhere. I'll take a look. How big is the menu vob? If too big, you can shrink them to stills. If the source has 160 buttons, then there is definitely something wrong already before importing.

Re: Merging a split DVD This is very bad. The DVDFab source definitely looks corrupt. The button groups are very strange. Which disc is this? What version of DvdReMake Pro are you using in this capture? Could you load the disc in PgcEdit, and open this menu and see what it says. If you want me to inspect the files, then zip all the DVDFab IFOs and menu_vob only for disc 1 and 2. I don't know if fixing this is possible. I'm not sure if deleting buttons is enough. Maybe the only way is to recreate new menus using different authoring software.
