DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

When exporting an edited DVD in Vista x64, DvdReMake Pro (3.6.2) slowly eats up all of the available memory with a rate of about 100kB/sec.
The program doesn't crash, but it keeps me of doing other things while it's exporting. My machine becomes very slow (Q6600 with 4GB of RAM).
When I close the program, memory usage drops back to what it was before I started it.

Does anybody know what might be causing this problem?

Re: DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

@ metallian Have you found anything that works to solve your problem?

I have a Q6600 based system that I just built and I can't get DVDRMP to edit a thing. It crashes every time and I get a message saying that it can’t read memory (see attachment). My OS is XP not vista, and I only have 2 Gigs of Ram not 4 like you.

I don't want to jack your thread but I thought that if another person has a similar issue it might help.

Question- Any one with a Q6600 system have DVDRMP working?

Thanks
F

Re: DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

I've found no solution yet.
As I mentioned before, the system doesn't crash. I can edit and save the result. Maybe that's because of Vista or the extra 2GB of RAM.

Re: DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

@ffreezinmn

Seems like a driver conflict issue.

@Metallian

I've also noticed (on XP) that DVDRMP likes memory, especially when it's exporting and takes a little while to release it when it's done.

Regards

@blutach

Yes, you are right. I broke down and reloaded windows.

I loaded DVDRMP first then checked its functionality after each new program was loaded. A program called Stardock ended up being the problem child.

Same problem as TS. I have no fix for it.

Newer versions of the program don't fix the problem...

I can confirm this issue. DvdRemake just eats up slowly all memory by exporting a DVD. But on Vista 32bit DvdRemake 3.6.3 works perfectly

My system:
Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2400 MHz
4x 1GB Corsair DDR2 800 MHz PC2-6400 CL4
EVGA nForce 680i S775

I just wrote a eMail to Dimadsoft regarding to this Bug, perhaps they can fix it. Would be pretty nice.

Re: DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

The lastest version (3.6.3) doesn't fix the problem for me either.

I hope the guys at DimadSoft come up with an update that fixes this problem.

I got a real quick answer from Dimadsoft per eMail. They wrote, that they will find out what is going wrong.

Hopefully we get soon a working Vista64-Version . That would be pretty nice.

OK, same RAM eating problem with subsequent severe lagging still exists in Vista x64 with SP1 patched.

Oh well.

Re: DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

I just got a mail back from the DimadSoft support team:
"We are aware of that issue, but have not resolved it yet."

So I guess they are working on it...

Re: DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

Well, still no Update

As I have to switch soon to Vista64, so I guess I have to search another similar software for reauthoring DVDs. DimadSoft's support is just very bad. This issue is now known since a half a year, and nothing happened until now.

I love DvdRemake, but because of this bad support I regret it now that I bought it for much money

Re: DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

I too have this problem on Vista Ultimate 64Bit.
Very disappointed that it's not yet sorted after so long.

Will be looking elsewhere for suitable program.

And why has Dimadsoft not replied to this thread?

Best Regards

JonUK

Re: DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

Memory problems under 64bit Vista is not a bug as such in DvdReMake (Pro). DvdReMake is 32bit application and it has same problem as other 32bit applications that use memory extensively.

The only "fix" for ths problem is to make a new program - DvdReMake 64bit.

Is DvdRemake 64bit in development ?

I am prepared to pay if necessary.

Re: DvdReMake Pro memory usage (Vista x64)

We've started working on DvdReMake 64bit but it is not the main priority at the moment. So it may take some time. Most probably DvdReMake Pro 64bit will cost about the same as DvdReMake Pro 32bit and those who have license for DRMP 32b will be able to get DRMP 64b with significant discount.

OK - Thanks for the reply.

I look forward to it's release.

Well, even the 32bit-Version of DvdRemake has some problems with Vista32 .
Exporting a DVD5 does take about 10 min. under Vista, twice as long as with XP .

Well, of course I support this development, but then I have to buy a second Licence for the same product
At least I do not know any other software developing company, which sell 32- OR 64-bit of the same product (except OS's)
If Dimadsoft just would regulary make some Updates, they would have much more customers.

Greetings...
