I purchased DVDRemakePro to combine DVDs with menus (so the kids' 30 minutes DVDs could be consolidated and still have their menu games on one DVD). I love it!

But now I would like to take an episode of something on TV that I have burned onto DVD and remove commercials.

I use Nero Recode to split the 30 minute show into 3 or 4 shorter titles. But I would like to take these titles and combine them into one title so that my DVD player that can read title lists can show each episode name, and it only takes up one entry in the list.

Is there some sort of tutorial demonstrating this kind of thing? Or can someone explain how to do that?

I'm not sure what you do with Recode. Is this part of Nero6 or Nero7? Do you mean using Start/End frames just to cut out commercials?

If this is what you mean, you don't have to do that in Recode. You can accomplish this task in DvdReMakePro and still have only one title. Just use the 'Split here' method.

1. Go to the PGC level, Programs pane, containing the episode with commercials. Go to the program and scroll in the preview to the beginning of the commercial, then 'Split here'. A new cell below is created with commercial at the beginning.

You may need to 'fine tune' the splitting as ReMake cuts at GOP level (per VOBU), not at specific frame. (Both Recode and Shrink cuts at GOP level. Womble's MPEG Video Wizard supports accurate frame editing.) By 'fine tuning' I mean you select the previous cell, hit >| button and Play in Preview window to verify that the last commercial frame is not shown. If it is, then Undo. Repeat the split with one VOBU less.

2. In this new cell, scroll to the beginning of the continuing episode, and 'Cut to here'. This will cut the commercial.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until no more commercials are left.
4. If you like to use Next and Prev button on remote, then define a program for the new split cells, using 'Insert program'.
5. If you like chapters for these new programs, then go to the Titles pane, 'Add/Insert chapters' for these new programs.
