R-source disk will only burn to R+ with 1 Click???

I have had my new toshiba in the warranty depot and no one could resolve the problem, however after getting it back and doing some more trials with the other software I found something interesting and thought I should ask why this is possible with this program and not Nero the last version of 6, the 6.6.6.18 nor the Ultra 7 Edition, nor Slysoft's Clone DVD.

My problem i thought existed with my notebook optical drive and so i was without the new notebook for 2 weeks and nothing could be found defective.

I did a number of posts trying to see if anyone else had the problem that I had.
I had just bought a panasonic mini dv pv-gs300 and being to using it I took it in and had a couple of glitches removed and the fella that did the job burning me a R- disc I have known for several years going back to my Sony hi-8, Super 8 era.
I brought the 3 R- family video home and prepared to burn backups for other family members and used my new notebook that had Nero on it and with both my externla Benq 162I burner and my Sony drx 810UL that I have always burned in dvd ROM through book management onto R+ media the trays of the burner would fly open and I would get a message on the screen asking for R- media.

Frustrated after then trying it with Clone DVD (slysoft) and getting the same problem I took it into our office software tech even though I was on vacation.
He tried his Nero Corporate 7 on his Sony and Acer notebooks and got the same thing.

Puzzled, he called Toshiba and spoke to a level 2 tech who advised to send it to the warranty Depot.
It was sent in and the tech used Verbatim R- and burned to a Verbatim R+ with no problem. ( he burned a copy of my home R- dvd from the edit shop which was on Media identified as Ty G02 2.4x,4x,8x,12x,16x, and burned it to the Verbatim R- for testing purposes)

Having done this and getting a successful burn from the Verbatim R- to the Verbatim R+, he sent the unit back.
I then retried the edit shop media again with different R+ (Verbatim) and still got the same problem.

Then I remembered that I had a copy of 1 Click DVD Copy on my 3 yr old notebook and put the Edit shop R- Source disk in and it read it which has never been the issue and then I put in the Verbatim R+ media and it burned fine????

Why would 1 Click DVD Copy be able to do this and neither Nero Ultra 7, nor Sly soft Clone DVD be able to accomplish this Burn.
The Edit shop can't understand it and neither can my software tech; as Nero 6.6.6.18, Nero Ultra 7, nor Clone DVD tried on my new toshiba, my 3 year old toshiba, an acer and the sony failed. And I should say that there is only ONE dvd burning software on each of the notebooks so there is no software conflict.

Now it looks like I will have to purchase another copy of 1 Click DVD Copy for my new computer if it is the only software that seems to be capable of burning R- to R+ as sometimes different members of my family send me family dvd's and I may want to make copies and the other programs may not copy their R-.

I look forward to comments, thankyou.
This has been a long drawn out Mystery for everyone!!

Re: R-source disk will only burn to R+ with 1 Click???

I am still curious as to why 1 Click 4.2.9.1 would burn a TY R- Source disk that the Edit Shop did of the family wedding onto my R+ Verbatim Disk when Nero 6.6.6.18 nor Nero Ultra 7 would not.

I mentioned earlier that the Edit Shop computer savvy partner did some fiddling with settings on Nero Corporate Edition which they use and was able to do burn from an R- Disk to a R+ Disk eventually.

I don't know what he adjusted and will wait til he gets back from holidays.
Obviously he had to do something manually to get success.

However 1 Click DVD Copy simply did the R- To R+ burn automatically without a struggle!!!

Great program, and I am just curious about why it was able to do this.

I am thinking of buying the Pro version and putting it on my new toshiba notebook and keeping the 4.2.9.1 version on this notebook.

BTW, I still can't remember if I can directly d/l a newer version over the older one or do I have to uninstall it???

I would appreciate a reply and I will note it down under my programs that I log in a notebook.

Thankyou.

Re: R-source disk will only burn to R+ with 1 Click???

I have been thinking about getting the Pro Version for my other notebook b/c I really do like the 1 Click when I am doing backups quickly, but I still hang onto Nero for data backup purposes.

I am trying to see a reason why I should buy it for the other notebook. I have been reading reviews and checking out forums.

In the meantime I will have to wait to get my Nero working to burn the Source R- to R+.
Regards.

You don't have the InCD portion of Nero installed/Active , Do you ?

The InCD Portion of Nero is known to cause Major Problems/Conflicts
with Burning Softwares

Re: R-source disk will only burn to R+ with 1 Click???

No, I don't have the InCD installed, but found out from the Edit Shop that did my edit of my first 3 mini dv tapes that the only way that Nero will allow you to copy from an R- Source disk to a R+ is if you copy it to your HD and that was from the Editor there that knows all the computer related stuff.
1 Click is simply a better program.
Just thought that I would add this comment for other users.

I learned early in the game not to install InCD which I did about 3 years ago and had to get the software techie at the office to help me get rid of it. It is the worst feature of Nero, at least for me it is and I run whenever any one talks about it (not my cup of tea!!!)

Regards
