New Copy Protection for Hitch?

Tried to make a backup copy of the movie Hitch (just released) using 1clickcopy and DVD43, both are the most current versions, and was unable to copy (reported skipping bad sectors). Tried 1clickcopy and anydvd with the same results. Has anyone had any luck copying this DVD with what maybe Sony's newest copy protection?

DVD43 is old and nearly useless. Uninstall it and try your AnyDVD (get the most recent version, 5261 from www.slysoft.com if you don't have it) together with DVDDecrypter and that should get you a working backup.

Actually, read this thread, which also contains alternatives if DVDDecrypter doesn't decrypt Hitch for you.

Then you can use AnyDVD with DVDDecrypter and it should decrypt it fine. Then use 1click to reauthor/compress those files for burning to your blank DVD.

Re: New Copy Protection for Hitch?

Downloaded and installed DVDDecrypter. Copied DVD to hard drive and burned to DVD using 1ClickCopy. Total time was 35 min. There still is one problem which is annoying but is liveable. After clicking the play button at the main menu the movie plays the warning screens then the screen goes black. It seems to be at chapter one, the fast forward button accomplishes nothing. I then press the next chapter button and the movie starts about 3 min into the begining of the movie, still in chapter one. I then rewind quickly and the movie goes to the begining and plays normal including the opening credits. I used the default settings in DVDDecrypter since I am not familiar with the program. I am going to try to copy just the movie with no extras or menus using 1 ClickCopy. Any other ideas?

Re: New Copy Protection for Hitch?

Bad sectors in the first cell are typical of ARccOS. Open the files from DVDDecrypter with DVDShrink -> Reauthor -> Drag main movie title over to the left pane -> Hit "Set start/end frames" -> For start frame, go to chapter two and reverse to one second -> Hit "Okay" -> Hit "Backup". That should fix the problem, good luck.

The other option is to create a PSL file so DVDDecrypter knows where to insert dummy sectors.

First of all, delete all instances of DVD43free. Do a search and delete them. Then and only then use AnyDVD. You can not run them at the same time, it renders them both useless. When you have AnyDVD in your computer look down at the icons in the system tray. Put your DVD that you want copy in the drive and wait about 30 sec. Then run your mouse over the little red fox in sys. tray and it should say 1 on. The and only then open your Oneclick software. Set your options and you are on your way. The first time try a movie only copy with no options checked and let us know.

Re: New Copy Protection for Hitch?

Followed instruction given by Fritzi93 on using DVDShrink, was alittle confusing but I managed to correct the problem. Now the entire DVD plays with no problems.

Thanks, to everyone that gave ideas!!

If you use DVD shrink with DVD Decrypter you can get rid of the blank bit with DVD shrink by altering the start point. It will then start straight away when finished.

Yeah, it'll handle ARccOS. The only thing is you might not be able to open the output with DVDShrink, the "invalid data" error. Supposedly that problem was fixed, but there are reports that with some ARccOS protected discs, the problem persists. Your best bet (if Shrink won't open the files) is to open the output from DVDFabDecrypter in VobBlanker, set output folder, and hit "process". Nothing else. Then open the output from VobBlanker in DVDShrink. Or alternatively run the Fab output through DVDRebuilder at no compression to "wash" it. Then use Shrink.

Re: New Copy Protection for Hitch?

I seem to have a problem when trying to copy the Hitch DVD. I have tried using DVD Decrypter v.3.5, and DVD Shrink 3.2, and i have not had any luck. Both programs give me an error about failure to copy. And i cant seem to figure why, i use both programs a lot and they are really good at copying. Any suggestions???

whoezdaboss

do as Shannon suggests. there were updates to AnyDVD that were specific to Hitch and allowed you to decrypt it.

There are other DVD decrypters (DVDFab for example) but it does not work in the background as AnyDVD. DVD43 does work in the same was as AnyDVD, but not nearly as well. That's to be expected as you pay for AnyDVD and DVD43 is free.
