Cant burn backup

Good day.
I have been using 1 click for a few years along with dvd43. Install my original and a blank, click and go. I am now unable to burn for some reason. When the process gets to the burn point, it kicks out my disc and it tells me to insert a writeable dvd. Then it says the DVD-R is formatted for packet writing and is useable only by the owner application.
I am half way through a stack of DVD-R that have worked fine. I even tried another brand (which had also been successfully used in the past). Any suggestions as to what my problem is and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Dan F

Re: Cant burn backup

Do you have Nero InCD or Roxio Drag to Disc or Sonic DLA installed? It sounds like that is your issue.

I think I have drag to disc on here somewhere but I haven't changed anything that I know. The problem just started on it's own.

You need to Update 1Click
There's not much help We can offer for a Version
- 2 years out of date

If you wish to use DVD43 as your Decrypter :
For many of the Newer releases
- say even as far back as a year or more
You need to be using the most Current DVD43

It is also imperative
That you be using the most current Update of 1Click
You are dependent on 1Click's CPRx updates

I am very surprised that this is the first issue that you've encountered

The Current Version of 1ClickDVDCopy handles "3:10 to Yuma"
- No Problem

Anyway .... Here's What you need to do :

You are using a very out dated Version of 1Click ....

You also have a very old / out-dated version of CopytoDVD installed

Given the Age of the Version currently used :
You'll need to renew your license to use a newer version of 1Click
The 1Click License Renewal is $19.00
You can check your license renewal date here

1CLICK DVD COPY - LICENSE RENEWAL Here

To Update .... I would ..

Remove = COPYTODVD: 3.0.42.78
from your Add/Remove Programs

After removing CopytoDVD
Remove 1Click 4.2.9.13

> Run CCleaner ( it's free ) > Registry> Scan for Issues > Fix All
> Reboot

>> Update/ Install 1Click 5.4.3.5
http://www.lgsoftwareinnovations.com/download.asp
> Reboot

Do not Re install CopytoDVD yet .....
1Click now has a 'Self-Contained' Burn engine
You DO Not - need - to Install CopytoDVD to use 1Click anymore

Later ,
after we get this sorted .... if you actually use CopytoDVD
you may ....
Update your CopytoDVD to : COPYTODVD: 4.0.4.60 > Reboot

Re: Cant burn backup

Good day so far.
I removed updated rebooted rebooted updated and rebooted and all that stuff and it seems to be good. I do have some questions.
If I go to the Add/Delete programs, it shows 1Click DVD Copy 4.2.9.13 and 4.5.3.6 . Should they both be there?
DVD43 launches automatically at start up. Can I change it so that it doesn't?
Not related, but Creative Diagnostics Agent also launches automatically. Can I change that also?
After all the downloads, there are these setup icons on my desk top. Can I click on them and delete them?
When I did my firmware update from liteon, I'm pretty sure that I clicked on GDHJ but I got GDHG. Should I try that again?
After all that, I made a backup of a movie. It seemed to take a bit longer than I recalled. Is there some way to speed up the process a bit?
With the new 1Click, are there any changes that I might need to know in order to make my life and backing up easier.

Not sure what it means but that is nothing new.
It asked if I would like to get rid of DVD Decrypter.
I have that and DVDFab which I use sometimes with DVD Shrink
Any suggestions as to whether I should do anything with these programs.
Hopefully the new 1 Click is so good I will never need them again and should just free up the space. Recommendations?

Thanks again

Did your Reboot ?

Maybe you'll fine help with your Drive's Firmware here :
LiteOn Firmwares/codeguys.rpc1.org

Make Sure your Drives are Empty
Be sure to Exit DVD43

DMA Issues - Checking and Setting // Slow Read and Burn Speeds

I would go ahead and .....

Try Refreshing Your IDE/DVD Drivers
( same procedure for Resetting a 'stubborn" DMA )
Use this Link for reference :
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616

Empty your CD/DVD Drives

Go to >
>> Start > Right Click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab
>> Device Manager

Click the + to Open the IDE ATA ATAPI Controllers
Right Click on the IDE Channel > Properties > Advanced Tab

The First Primary IDE Should read @ Ultra DMA Mode 5
This is Correct = It's your Hard Drive

> Either a Secondary IDE OR a 'Second' Primary IDE
Should have Two Devices ( DVD/CD Drives )
Each Device Should be reading Ultra DMA mode 2
( Depending on the DVD Drive - One might read : Ultra DMA mode 4 )
This will be the 'corresponding' IDE Channel - supporting your DVD/CD Drives
If it instead Reads : PIO ...... Yes , that's the one you're looking for

Even though It may be 'reading' DMA correctly ;
Follow these instructions

> Go into your Device Manager
> UN install Any/ All DVD/CD Drives ( Yes , IF : Both Drives )
> Right Click on Drive > Select=UNinstall
#### Do not restart Yet #####
> UN install the corresponding IDE Channel
> Right Click on IDE Channel , Select=UNinstall
> Now REboot
>> REboot again

This will force the Reinstall of DVD Device Drivers - Refreshing the Drivers
- which may correct any 'communication' issues/corruption

If for some reason your DMA is 'out-of-whack'
- The above will fix that too

At any rate ; It won't hurt
- It may correct any Drive Communication Issues

At the First sign of any trouble .
this is usually the first thing I'll do .
You may have just left in a "Skipping Bad Sector"/ CRC error for too long

Not sure what it means but that is nothing new.
It asked if I would like to get rid of DVD Decrypter.
I have that and DVDFab which I use sometimes with DVD Shrink
Any suggestions as to whether I should do anything with these programs.
Hopefully the new 1 Click is so good I will never need them again and should just free up the space. Recommendations?

Thanks again
Dan

DVD Decrypter , DVDShrink and DVDFab are fairly inert
These Programs only Run when you open them
You may want to Exit DVD43 - before opening them ... but :
They are not your Problems
I have all ; DVD Decrypter , DVDShrink and DVDFab(free) installed
.... but don't really use them much

OK , Here's the skinny :

Green= No Problem - Leave these be

RED = BAD : Definite Issue

Wow ..... Bingo ...

Here's the Usual .....

Let's check something .....

Go to > Start > My Computer
> Right Click on DVD drive > Properties > Auto-Play tab

What do you have selected for the "Action to Perform" for 'DVD Movie" ?
This should be set as "Take no action"
OR
Set only for your DVD Player ( WinDVD/ Power DVD )
- be sure to close your 'Player' before opening 1Click

What do you have selected for the "Action to Perform" for 'Blank CD" ?
This should be set as "Take no action"

While here in the DVD Drive 'Properties"
Do you have a "DLA" tab ?
= Disable DLA

___________________

Would you happen to have
- Nero ( InCD )
or
Roxio ( DragtoDisc/ EasyArchive/ DirectCD )
- installed/active on your Computer ?

FAQ : Can other software conflict with the installation
and operation of 1Click DVD Copy?

Definite Problems :
DragtoDisc most probably -Must- Go ......

In some Set-Ups , Disabling DragtoDisc seems to be OK
- In others
It has to be REMOVED

If you don't use - Remove it

You can try again - with DragtoDisc -Disabled

..... but in most cases ..... it needs to be removed

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To Remove DragtoDisc
>> Go to >
> Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
> Look for a Listing for DragtoDisc
If Found > Select Remove > Reboot
If not separate listing for DragtoDisc :
>> Find the listing for Roxio ( or Sonic )
> Select Change
Select the DragtoDisc Sub-Component > Select Uninstall
>> Reboot
Let me know - if you need help finding the DragtoDisc program
We can simply delete the Filters - if it comes to that , but ....
It is better - to actually find and remove them with offending program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Possible Issues ; Not Probable :
You should be Allright
As long as the Program using these Filters
- Is not Running and Disabled from Windows 'Start-Up'

Leave these for now .....

Be sure that ITunes is Disabled from Windows Start-Up

Finally ...

I'd recommend that you Try using EnditALL while Copying/Burning
... to free up your resources
... You might be surprised at what's running - in the background

That'll keep you busy

Re: Cant burn backup

Hello again,
more deleting, rebooting configuring and rebooting. I tried the firmware update again. After clicking on the link for GDHJ, when it gets to the point where the flash file opens, it shows FW revision GDHG. I tried the GDHJ link from codeguys and it says the drive model doesn't match. So I am revision GDHG.
For the IDE, there is the Primary IDE with device 0 and device 1. Device 0 is Ultra DMA Mode 5. Device 1 is not applicable. For secondary IDE, after UN install & reboot, has changed to PIO only for device 0 & 1.

I couldn't find Drag to Disc by itself. I tried to change Roxio and the only option it gave me was to have a desktop icon or not. I haven't used Roxio since 2-2-05 so I deleted the whole Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 Basic DVD Edition.

I Downloaded and installed the VSOinspector. It seems simple enough. Insert Movie DVD Open Inspector, select scan, wait a moment then it tells me, Blank media inserted. Then the Interactual media player open and the movie starts.
I must be missing something in the instruction process.

I set both drive to Take no action when disc inserted.

I've run Advance Windows Care and unchecked I believe everything that was listed there. I think it was 4 of the items have turned themselves on. The list shows the same file, one unchecked and the other now checked.

I got into end it all just a bit and thought it was more that I wanted to attempt at the moment. I'll need to do a bit more reading before I start messing with that one.I have a couple backups to do so I will give them a rip and post results later.
Thanks, Dan

For the IDE, there is the Primary IDE with device 0 and device 1. Device 0 is Ultra DMA Mode 5. Device 1 is not applicable. For secondary IDE, after UN install & reboot, has changed to PIO only for device 0 & 1.

You need to Get your Secondary IDE to DMA
PIO is a problem

If you can Not get your DMA - to Reset
Contact Dell Support
You may need to apply a 'Patch' ( there's one below )

Try this - from Dell ...
Utility to set Secondary IDE controller CD devices to DMA mode.

-or/ then -

Try this :
Remove DVD43
Search your Computer for all 'Files and Folders(inc Hidden) for DVD43
Delete any Remnants
Run CCleaner > Registry > Fix All Issues
> Reboot

Try Resetting your DMA as Instructed
> Uninstall each Drive
> Uninstall the Secondary IDE
( OR RUN the DMA PATCH )
> Reboot Twice

If Successful .... then Reinstall DVD43 4.1 > Reboot

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did your LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163 - come with your Computer ?
A Dell ..... right ?
Dell has Removed all Direct Links for Firmware for the LTD163
http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...l=en&cs=&s=gen
That's probably their way of saying :
"If you still have this Drive - You should replace it "
Your DVD-Rom Drive must be 4-5 years old
It may have Died
If the Drive is Bad
- This Might be your DMA/PIO Problem
Your Plextor - isn't getting any younger - either
If a DVD drive last 2 years - That's outstanding
The good news is
New Burners are only $30.00+/-
LG // LG H55
Samsung 202
Pioneer 115
$30.00 +/-
I , myself , would replace the DVD-ROM Drive - with a new burner
If you've Completely removed Roxio
Run this :
Roxio Zap 1.0
Remove Roxio software trails from your computer
You might try running This - Before trying to Fix your DMA again ....
I must be missing something in the instruction process.
The InterActual media player
- is the devil
It's probably Blocking Access - to the Drive
.... So that the VSOInspector - can't read the Disc ....
Beware the infamously annoying InterActual Player : AutoRun Program
Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!
The DVD that you are trying to Back-Up
- May be trying to Install a PC Friendly , AutoRun Program / Player
Be Sure to Close any 'Auto-Run' Player Prompts
DO NOT ALLOW these 'Players' to Install
.... and/ or .... even better .....
>>Press and Hold the < SHIFT > key
- when inserting the DVD into your Source Drive
>> Hold The SHIFT key : Until the LED Stops Blinking
This will Block the DVDs 'Auto-Run'
````````````````````````````

Maybe your Drive - is not properly 'Refreshing'

Since You're using DVD43 ( and the same could apply to AnyDVD ) :

Each time You finish with one Disc > Close 1Click

> Let DVD43 recognize the Next Disc
> Open your DVD Player - and skip though a little of the Disc
>> Close your DVD Player
> Now Open 1Click

If there seems to be a Problem - Reading the Source
> Close 1Click
> Remove the Disc
> Replace the Disc
> Let DVD43 recognize the Disc
> Open your DVD Player - and skip though a little of the Disc
>> Close your DVD Player
> Now Open 1Click

You need to Allow DVD43 / Your Source drive to "Refresh"

In AWCP - start-Up :
You would have to Tell me what those Programs were
- that - turned themselves back On

There are Certain things that might need to Start with Windows
( AntiVirus , UPS ...etc )

The Great thing about EnditALL
..... Is it just 'Closes" - what's Running
EnditALL - doesn't "Change" Anything
When you Reboot - Everything -IS - as Before
You go right back to how you were

Once you try it once or twice
- It wont be so intimidating
