Burned disk not being read by anything!

Hi, thanks for taking a look into this problem for me. I read the "successful burn" topic earlier, but I'm still having problems.

So, here is my story:

I was trying to backup a copy of 300 using 1ClickDVDcopy Pro. I have DVD43 3.9, I used to burn just fine.

But for some reason, halfway through burning, 1Click would stop with an error. I changed the media and was able to locate the TEMP file and use copy2dvd to try and make the disc.

I then got the error:
Write error at 195136 (16) - Code 05 21 02 [Illegal request, Invalid address

So, I researched that, lowered my burn speed, did some other stuff (I can't even remember what now), and tried to burn again both with 1Click and copy2dvd.

I get "successful" burns each time, but NOTHING reads the disc.

So, what's up, doc?

Here is the latest log files from today:

Update your 1Click PRO
Current Version is 3.0.1.6
http://www.lgsoftwareinnovations.com/download.asp
> Reboot

#2
Your Settings
Right Click on the 1Click Interface > Settings Menu

You're using -R media
>>Set= "Your DVD-R Write Mode" at "Try SAO First"

>>Set= Your "Preferred Burn Speed" at 1/2 of your Media's rating
ie: IF You're using 16x Media = Set for 8x ;
8x Media = Set for 4x

>>UN Check= Enable media stats collection - VSO

Then ....
Your Media

This Media ID: CMC MAG. AM3
- Is questionable , to say the least ....
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
Honestly ,
Those are some of the worst Media known to man

Definitely : Try some Better Media
Verbatim or TY Media
You'll be much Happier ...

BestBuy has Verbatim on Sale - quite a bit
- for probably about the same ( or less )
than you were paying for those CMC MAG. AM3

Verbatim @ BestBuy
Verbatim @ Newegg

You must Disable it when using 1Click

I find it best to Direct to the Movie's VIDEO_TS Folder

Re: Burned disk not being read by anything!

Thanks.

Ok, took you're advice, except for the media (going to BB tomorrow, I guess, after I take back these POS to OfficeMax).

Same thing happened. Is it really the media, cause I've used this before, successfully. And, if the fail rate is really 50%, then I should've had ONE successful burn out of the last 8 I've done.

Anyway, is there anything else? Any prog conficts that I should know of? I unistalled d-tools (and rebooted). I've got iTunes and Samsung media running in the background, along with AVG AntiVirus . . .

Is it really, really the media?

Thanks:

One of the Issues with 'Crappy' media
- Is "Inconsistency"
I'd say - Up to this point - you've only been lucky
- or very un lucky ( depending how you look at it )
The Quality may vary - batch to batch
- and also - even within the same spindle

Media ID: CMC MAG. AM3 ???
I would be surprised if you weren't having trouble

Just a word of Warning ;

Most of us - We have been there ......
- We had to learn the hard way
That's the reason why we're so adamant about it

We've used cheap media
- and one day said "Oh Crap!"
( That's why we call it 'Crappy Media" )

Sometimes
- It only takes a few coasters ...
or
- throwing a couple spindles of worthless media in the trash
or then Sometimes ....

Finding that your Back-Ups
- Have faded into UnPlayable 'Glitch Discs"

Do not be surprised ; That in a month or two , or six
- That you start noticing a problem with Playing these Discs

If We have saved you - any of these frustrations
- This is our only intention

Sorry .....
I Still get 'flashbacks' whenever I see a CMC MAG Media ID
CMC MAG = Pre Packaged Coasters

Your AVG is fine

I wouldn't leave iTunes and Samsung Media Studio running
- while 'ripping'/ especially not while 'Burning'

Let's check something .....

Go to > Start > My Computer
> Right Click on DVD drive > Properties > Auto-Play tab

What do you have selected for the "Action to Preform" for 'DVD Movie" ?
This should be set as "Take no action"
OR
Set only for your DVD Player ( WinDVD/PowerDVD )
- be sure to close your 'Player' before opening 1Click

While here in the DVD Drive 'Properties"
Do you have a "DLA" tab ?
= Disable DLA

FAQ : Can other software conflict with the installation
and operation of 1Click DVD Copy?

and ... Here's some Help - with maybe ... reducing the load ....

I'd recommend that you Try using EnditALL while Copying/Burning
... to free up your resources
... You might be surprised at what's running - in the background

Open Advanced Windows Care Personal > Tools > Start-Up Manager
( it's completely free and a very recommended clean-up program )

You will be presented with a listing of the Programs
- Programs that are designated to Start-Up with Windows
- and Descriptions of Each ( Click on Selection )

Anything Referring to any DVD/CD Software ?

If So = Delete it

This only Removes the Program - from the List
- Designated to 'Start-Up' - with Windows
You would - still - be able to 'manually' start the Program(s) - when needed

Also ......
Delete anything - Not Trustworthy
Delete anything - Not Necessary or Not Preferred
( you may right click on an Start-Up item > Select Disable - If you prefer )
>> Apply
> Reboot

or also -
You should also , Go into Msconfig - and Deselect unneeded Programs
- from your 'Start Up"
This will help a lot .....
Do I really need this on my PC?

How to use MSCONFIG ?

Here's another nice ... little trick

Re: Burned disk not being read by anything!

Sweet, thanks for all the help. I went to BB today and found 50 packs of DVD+R for $12 each!!! Cheaper than the crap Memorex!

Thanks, I shall not commit the above sins again.
