| Anyone upset that 1clickdvdcopy changed "free support" policy mean "one year only"? I purchased a product key for 1clickdvdcopy in about January 2005. I read all there was to read on their website very carefully before shelling out that kind of money. They promised free updates and user support. I am guessing that at a later point their ambitions changed and they began making different versions (i.e. pro version), which is really nothing more than a sneaky way to get around providing free updates to existing non pro customers. Now suddenly "Free Upgrades and user support" is no longer advertized. No it stipulates one year. Now regardless of what myself or anyone else thinks is reasonable, the only issue at stake is what the company offered as a bennie at the time I hit made the purchase. How can they justify to their previous customers enforcing a new policy? Is anyone else upset with this? Does anyone else view this pro version as simply being a way to skirt around their promise to provide free updates? I am thinking about filing a complaint with my local attorney generals office (consumer fraud). However, I am wondering about what the legal status of using 1clickDVDcopy to make backups of my previously purchased movies. Is that legal these days? Naturally I don't want to register a complaint with the OAG office if I am doing something illegal. Anyone know the status of the law in this area? |

| Re: Anyone upset that 1clickdvdcopy changed "free support" policy mean "one year only LGSI introduced the $19 a year maintenance fee over a year ago and it has been part of the End User Licence Agreement - which you have to agree to when you are installing any piece of software these days (even free stuff) There has been this debate over on the LGSI forum many months ago and the wording on the download site never actually said "FREE LIFETIME" updates it just said "FREE UPDATES & SUPPORT". All I can take from this is that you have not updated your 1click for some time otherwise your would have known about this before now. There are 1000's of users who are happy to pay the $19 a year to be sure that the product they use continues to develop. Although 1clickPRO has only recently implementde the $19 yearly fee as well it has been documented on the website & the EULA for a long time that it was just 1yrs updates & support also. With regards to your OAG office you will probably find it is not the backing up of your dvd's that is the problem but more likely the circumventing of the copy protection on the dvd but that all depends on your location. So you don't want anybody pulling YOU up for possible 'illegal' activities but are very quick to jump to the attack when you think LGSoftware 'may' have infringed YOUR rights. Bottom line....have you used the software to possibly 'illegally' gain yourself more than the software cost? if so whats the problem. You could always buy AnyDvd at $49 and keep using whatever version of 1-Click that you own, or pay for the upgrade, or buy two copies of all your movies. |

| Re: Anyone upset that 1clickdvdcopy changed "free support" policy mean "one year only"? I can understand what the OP is saying, but while I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, I also know that these "upgrades" are developed by someone, and since nobody works for free; I really feel $19 a year to have someone always working to make their product better is a small price to pay to avoid a bunch of BS. Holy run-on sentence! LOL Look at the average Joe who backs up an average of 2 movies a week. (like me) I back up 100 titles a year, and it works out to 19 cents each, BFD! Don't be such a cheapskate and look at it from their point of view. These guys work hard to keep their software updated, do you really expect them to do it for free? Crazy |

What I am not OK with is that these upgrades will overwrite your existing version if you didn't realize your year is over and if you are not ready to upgrade at that time you can no longer use the previous version. You are thus FORCED into updating. Moreover, their customer service managers to be rude via email (of course that's the only way they can communicate since there's no phone support) and there is no way to get acces to your earlier version. |

| Re: Anyone upset that 1clickdvdcopy changed "free support" policy mean "one year only"? LG Software is a class company with great products, I suggest you read the EULA before you buy a product or at least go there website and read what you have bought. Upadtes are free upgrades cost 19USD a year. No much for the great product they give you. I am sure LG support will be very polite and answer any question you may have about their upgrade policys. - during the Installation , before the actual installation/overwrite begins I'm given a 'Prompt' that reads : "Would you like to go online and check to see if you are eligible for this Update ?" Did you just Disregard/ Dismiss the Prompt ? Quote:
