I forgot to add I updated my dvd writer firmware at hp.com, that still didn't help.

Slow down your write speed to 8X and enable your DMA. It is disabled.

Look to to enable UDMA Mode.

i double checked. It (DMA) was, and still enabled. Slowing the write speed. lets see if that works. btw, i am using Verbatim DVD+Rs, also tried Verbatim-Rs, both do not work.

Not according to your log it wasn't. Follow the procedure to reset your DMA anyway.

Your DMA is disabled. Use the guide in the link I gave you. Then you will find that your porblems are solved.

wow, i think that is my problem. i can't enable DMA. I am using DVD43 in the background. do you think this is the problem? I do follow the procedures to Enable it. But the log still says that is Disabled. Any suggestions?

Try removing DVD43
Search and Delete all traces
Now - Try Resetting your DMA
If Successful - Then try Reinstalling DVD43

If it Re occurs - PIO - Then maybe you should try AnyDVD

Are you using a Dell ?

Did you finally enable your UDMA. You never said. I posted a guide. Use it. If you indeed have enabled your UDMA please reinstall 1Click but only if your DMA issue is resolved.

tried copying differnet DVDs. Tried lowering the write speed. Nothing seems to work.

I just made a music cd, to see if the writer was broke. the cd works.

Without being there and looking at the drive and seeing what other conflicting software you have I really cannot give you much more adivce. I am really sorry, you can rule out you media, cause that is a very good brand, right speed 8X is great. Dma enabled. Other then trying another drive I can't think of an answer.
