| Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2 Interesting read fellas, do we know that these programs have different compression algorithms ?? What, IYHO, makes one compressing software better than the other ?? I ask this because in my case I started using DVDShrink and got pixelation problems on most of the burns, I switched over to CloneDVD2, problem gone, and just to double check, I used Shrink a few more times, same issue, so far CloneDVD2 works best for me although I did see a slight difference of quality on higher compression levels...

| Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2 Settings: Deep analysis on AEC set to max smooth, set it to put the movie on your HDD first to check the quality before burning, no point in wasting a disc. Turn off all progs running in the background, like firewall and Antivirus protection etc...etc... |

Thanks greatly for the info, will try Shrink tonight with the same problem DVD and let you know, I want to be fair in my assessment of the compression programs :-) Is there a way to check for pixelation without having to sit through the whole movie ?? I did run DVDInfoPro CRC checking and it finds no errors on those DVDs....

| Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2 You could have Anydvd running in the background while you let shrink copy your movie onto you HDD. You could also use DVDDecrypter to put the movie onto your HDD with Anydvd running in the background but you must configure decrypter so you do not run into any conflicts. When I perform my transcoder or encoder tests I always use VirtualDubMod to compare the quality by saving the images putting them into a folder to compare them. |

I only use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim discs the best brands you can get IMO Alot of people burn at half the max burn speed. For example 8x discs burn @4x, 16x burn @8x | |

| Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2 I'm getting into this way too late, but will chip in. I found (to my dismay) that 1clickdvd, while working as advertised, did not properly master titles, and when I but those same backups in CloneDVD2 to do a straight copy, I got errors. When I discovered that, I used CloneDVD2 and no more mastering problems. Now that I've used CloneDVD2 a lot, it's easier, and lets me remove more stuff than 1click, and I've never seen any quality issues like artifacts, although I do notice to my eyes my CloneDVD2 copies are better than 1click ones on comparable media (Verbatim, TY). So I stopped using 1click a while ago because of mastering problems, and I wasn't paying $59 to upgrade to the "pro" version, when I already invested in AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 for the same price, with better results. Oh well...! Live and learn!! ![]()

| Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2 So far, using Verbatim, AnyDVD, with CloneDVD2, I have not yet produced one dud, every backup is crystal clear, I can divide a DVD into two or three if I need to, but everything is working like a champ !!

| Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2 Some very good test results and observations here. I doubt that I can add much of anything to help here other than my own opinion which we all know about them and that they are like a..h...., everyone has one. So here is my opinion. I prefer to make full DVD backups, when possible, of very good quality. I have and use all of the above. I also have and use Dvd95Copy Pro. Dvd95Copy Pro is another excellent, full copy program that does excellent 1:1 copys. The main flaw with it, for me, is that it uses it's own encryption defeat system and does not let AnyDvd work with it. So there are times it will not work on account of that. CloneDvd2 has consistently been a mainstay for how well it works with DVD and ISO images, too. 1clickPro is an awesome program, too, as it does exactly what it is supposed to do. DVD ReBuiilder Pro is a world all of it's own. It is an on going work in progress that takes what you and I report about it and from that he tries always to make it better. As with each of the encoders he uses, they can be configured in various ways, depending on which one it is. CCE does have a large amount of flexibility in how it can be setup internally to determine what it can put out. Most people usually do not mess with those settings, me included. But your own, default, DVD template can be made and used I think, which also includes changing PAL to NTSC and or NTSC to PAL within them and that in itself is a very BIG plus, for me anyway. Just never tried that but have heard it can be configured as such. DVD Decrypter and DVDShrink32 are the best Freeware programs that have ever been made and it would not really be fair to compare them to any of the rest you pay for. Not fair to the paid for ones versus cost anyway!...LOL What it all boils down to is in just how particular one is, how much time he wants to use and in what features he wants to keep or get rid of. Dvd95Copy Pro CloneDvd2 DVD ReBuiilder Pro Nero Recode2 1Click Pro DvdShrink32 Decrypters: AnyDvd DVD Decrypter ISO/Image work: Alcohol 120% WinImage 8 Lite-On 1693S, Sony 720A, BenQ DW-1650 and one dead Plextor 712 2 - Dell 8100 P4 - 1.7 GHz PCs Each have: 256 MB RDRAM 1-160GB Seagate HD 1-300GB Seagate HD I like TYG02 DVD-R and Ritek Ridata G05 DVD-R mostly of which I usually get the 100 disk cakes from supermediastore or rima. Just my 3 cents worth... ![]() |
