1ClickDVDCopy Discuss, 1clickdvd or clonedvd2 at Copy Movie forum; it seems that many of us have both programs, so my question is. when it comes to quality, which of the two do you prefer? remember, your choice should be made base in quality output only, nothing else. thanks.

Did you post this question in the CloneDVD2 area as well, in order to get a more balanced survey?

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

On quality output alone, I go with 1Click by a very slim nose. On fairly high compressions (40%), with backups done movie only using same drives and media from same lot, I see less noticable artifacts of compression with the 1Click backups. This usually shows up in large areas of uniform color, like skies, large dark areas, etc. They look a little more grainy with the CloneDVD2 copy.

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

I agree with bigboard. When i use over minimal compression there is a noticeable difference between the two. 1 click generally has less artifacts than clone dvd. And to my knowledge and experience clone dvd doesnt work to well on multiangled dvds either (in my opinion this is just as important as picture quality).

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

I have both 1Click and CloneDvd2 and I think the video quality is better with 1Click, backing up the same movie with just the movie and menu only the amount of compression required is always less with 1Click then with CloneDvd2. About the only time i use CloneDvd2 is when the movie has an alternate beginning or ending or like a music video on the dvd, I think CloneDvd2 seperates the extras better then a few other programs I have especialy when you dont want all of the extras, just some of them.

I use CloneDvd2 to cut out the previews, particularly when they occupy a lot of space on the DVD. Some of them can run ten or more minutes. I tried 1Click DVD CopyPro to cut out the previews but the back up did not play back smoothly. On the three DVDs that I cut the previews out of using Pro, when the DVD was placed in the player nothing appeared on the television screen. I had to push menu on the remote, then the menu came on and I played the movie from there along with the remaining extras.

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

Greetings all....I use both Clone and 1 click copy dvd pro...And been copying about two years now...I also use anyDVD....Shrink....and DVD decrypter..all very good programs....To me ,1 click copy DVD pro is the better, but only by a slim margin..I tryed to copy a dvd with a few menu's and only 1 click could get it right, when It came to playing the disk...To be fair I never tryed Shrink and DVD Decrypter, but believe it would have done a great job also...I am going to use 1 click copy DVD more set the speed to 1:5 for a much deeper burn....Cheer's Young Rayhenry

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

Quality wise 1click pro is better than clonedvd2. Take a look for yourselfs. 1clickpro is the first picture then clonedvd2 both latest versions.

The movie is Lord of the Rings return of the king movie only compression is 61%

In my tests I have just finished Nero Recode2 gave the best result.

The programmes I tested were clonedvd2,Recode2,Shrink,1click dvd copy pro.

1Click pro came in third place third

1st Nero recode 2
2nd Shrink
3rd 1Click pro
4th clonedvd2 (I was very disappointed in clonedvd's performance)

I shouldn't get involved in this but maybe I can help you. First all you have to understand the difference between transcoding and encoding. You cannot bunch these programs all together because Shrink encodes and One Click transcodes. The same for the other program you mentioned. They all have different characteristics and thing that one does that the other can't. Just bunching them together is silly.

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

Blank DVD are now so cheaper that I really don't care about compression and always split Movie on 2 discs if it doesn't fit on 1 disc after removing extras and other Audio Track. With CloneDVD I can manage where to split the movie and decide if I want to copy extra material. (generally always put Extra on 2nd disc because I know where I can found them if I decide to watchs them in the future.
With my 50 Inch HDTV even 10% compression will left some artifact and I always want the best quality I can have.

You should try dvd-rebuilder pro instead of wasting discs even at 60% compression on HDTV the quality is excellent ( I use CCE and Procoder2)

.

well, since we are speaking about two things, transcoders and quality output, i think we can group them together. shrink is a transcoder and so are the rest. recode2, shrink, 1clickdvd, dvd2one and clonedvd2 are transcoders, yes, there are differences between them but they do transcode.
HC enc, CCE, procoder are encoders.

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

@Alan

The tests which I did for myself were to determine which gave me the best results quality wise. Those are the programmes (transcoders) I have on my pc and I wanted to see what was best for quality.

I used three films to come to my outcome

1) Lord of the rings return of the king
2) King kong
3) Stephen kings I.T

I dont care if theese programmes used a transcoder or encoder.

EDIT: Aflover asked what was the better programme regarding quality and I believe I have answered that with my first post

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

you used transcoders and that they are, if you were to use at least one encoder, you would have noticed the difference, at least on a big screen tv. encoders take much longer to finish the task but, the results are much, much better than any transcoders. you might want to try rebuilder(free)HC(free encoder) on the same movies, you'll see the difference.

I am currently in the middle of doing Encoder tests using CCE, Procoder2, HC18, and 2 more but obviously it takes much longer.

I am using dvd-rebuilder pro latest version.

good, let us know the results. i'm confident that if you use rebuilder with any encoder on the same movies you mentioned, you will be surprise at the picture quality. i have RB-pro, i have used it with HC a buch of times and the results were amazing. i don't use it anymore because it takes my no-very-powerful computer way too long(7 to 8 hours) to complete. so, when the compression is too high, i use the second best thing outthere, Recode2.

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

DVD Shrink is capable of both re-authoring and re-encoding the movie. It features an intuitive user interface which makes it easy to choose what to keep, and what to lose.

@ aflover I will keep you posted either by on this thread or by pm

7 - 8 hours is a long time my friend, it takes me about 145minutes with procoder2 and the quality is first class even @60% compression.

i think you are confusing reathoring with encoding.

Re: 1clickdvd or clonedvd2

The Encoder results

1st Procoder2
2nd CCE
3rd HC18
4th HC17
5th AutoQmatenc

It was a very hard to pick a winner out of Procoder2 and CCE but for me Procoder2 did the better job especially when it comes to lower bitrate movies.

HC18 for me is an excellent FREE encoder which did a great job with the movies I tested. Well done Hank for a great encoder

There was only a slight improvement in quality when pitching HC17 against HC18 IMO
