I know this has been repeated countless times reg RatDVD but no solution to same prob

Guys, I've downloaded a movie w/ 3 videos in Ratdvd format, I downloaded ratdvd 0.78.1444 & tried to open the files, it only recognizes one file (VIDEO TS) that's only 14KB, when I tried the 'all files', then its sees all the VIDEO TS XVO (the movie itself) & VSI but refuses to open. A message reads Invalid Archive footer. I'm really a novice w/ computers, applications, etc. I hope you guys can help.

Also, I checked the other threads w/ regard to AC3filter, I downloaded that as well & clicked on PREFER OTHER DECODER, nothing happens. Basically when I try to play the files on WMP or VLC, I have only audio & a black screen even, when I did the AC3filter thing. RatDVD still doesnt open/play the files & the same message appears. What can I do?

you need to install a full codec pack, with directshow filters. Ratdvd doesn't install them but it needs them. and secondly if you can see the .xvo and .vsi files you have done something wrong. The Ratdvd file is a single file. you can open it with winzip and see the .xvo and .vsi files but they will not play like that. they have to remain in the .ratdvd file.

Also, I don't know what I did wrong but hope you can enlighten me as well. I downloaded this movie in RatDVD format basiclly, I clicked on it to open using RatDVD & now I can see the .xvo & .vsi files. Similar to using winzip to extract the files, that's what it looks like. Any thoughts?

OK, the original does it have .ratdvd as the extention. if so right click on it go down to open with, and choose Windows media Player.

Let me know, try to fill me in on all the details on how you file acts, and exact steps you did that produced the problem

Re: I know this has been repeated countless times reg RatDVD but no solution to same prob

Tnx for taking the time w/ my prob SteohenL . I downloaded it as a winrar archive (I tried either extracting the files using winrar or opening it w/ ratdvd w/ the same results), when I extract the files, that is when I see the file w/ .xvo/.vsi files.

I just downloaded the codec you recommended & tried to reopen using ratdvd, now I don't see the .xvo/.vsi files, all I see now are the VIDEO TS/VTS_0#_# files. There is now only 1 video file but neither audio nor video plays now unlike before wherein the audio played. WMP just hangs whenever I do.

Sorry if I seem too much of a novice w/ such things.

BTW, no ratdvd as extension. This was the same movie I had previously but lost it. I was able to convert it to dvd before using ratdvd but I just can't figure it out now.

OK, lets try something. Open winrar or winzip(winzip refered). Create a new file. Name it test.ratdvd now open your explorer (not add files in winzip). Drag an drop all the files into winzip. It will bring up a box, on the left of that box is Compression change it to none. click add. now try the file out.

Your file should look like the attachment
