Re: Feature Request thread things that would be pretty cool in my opinion 1. More significant Qualitybar (something like 50 - 100 %) 1a. Alternating to point 1. some Bitrate settings... 2. A chop function for chopping away not needed borders (should even make the ratDVD file smaller) 3. The Video should be brighter 4. The Audio should be louder I really hope the developer of ratDVD is obtaining these suggestions. Please give some answers and say which features you will obtain in future releases! I like ratDVD... but since i would like to keep my DVD's in ratDVD format i must say that the playback sucks in each player supported (yet). Greetings

Re: Feature Request thread couple features that would be nice: a toggle-able "advanced" progress display, i'd like to be able to see information like what frame it is processing, which section it is in, which sections it has done, and which ones need to be transcoded. also, if it could spit out a simple text file at the end (if you asked for it before starting the encoding) it could spit out like the time taken to transcode the whole thing, and the size, as well as like the title and what features were selected (how much stuff of the original was slated for removal, etc). that would make it easy to paste it into a forum like this one so people can compare times. also, would be more data for the dev(s), like if it included system specs too. a "Pause" button, so i dont have to set the priority of other applications higher than it in order to pause it. (fantasy idea) a "Save for Later" button, to save the current information and a way to resume transcoding at a later time (like, shutting down the computer and then booting it back up, and completing transcoding after). higher quality vs size ratio. i'm one of the people that doesnt really care how long it takes to transcode as long as the quality vs size is great. (another fantasy idea) distributed transcoding. I know its done with other tasks (rendering animations with 3d software, doing mathematical calculations, etc), but it would be interesting to see if it would be feasable to transfer 4-8 gigs worth of information to a network for distributed transcoding. (Hint: using a bittorrent component built into ratDVD on a LAN, perhaps? )i cant think of anything else right now, which means im very happy with ratDVD as it is. ![]() regards, AnarkiNet (PS. Hello everyone, first post here!)

Re: Feature Request thread 1 - Have total control of finale size.. 2 - Have some kind of "Bitrate" final indicator, like some Divx programs, ( Neodivx ). 3 - Again, like point 2, instead of 150, it could be use a bitrate number. 4 - More fast? In fact my PC is 24/7 working, so no need of shutdown or fast encode....but i speak for myself.. Mordorr

Re: Feature Request thread For freaks: The new RATattack tools includes a RATbatch. "RATbatch: This is a program that does batch processing of DVDs into the ratDVD format. So, if you have a lot of DVDs you want to convert, this is very useful instead of doing it one-by-one. It goes through a whole directory structure and converts every DVD image it finds to a ratDVD in a given target directory. You can even specify the transcoding method and the quality/bitrate. "

What'll happen when bluray/hd-dvd discs come? I really like the idea of ratdvd keeping all the menues etc. However, it seems like it would be better if one could select to use a video-codec that will be inluded in HD-DVD/blu-ray, e.g. h.264. That way, the ratdvd to hdDVD conversion could essentially be loss-less. I'm sure there are pros for the ratDVD codec, but this is really a strong reason for using e.g. h.264. Also, if the goal of ratDVD is to be a universal format, more platforms really should be supported. Here, libraries for existing codecs might be used? Thanks for a great app. -> Anders Sjögren

Re: Feature Request thread I prefer Quality to speed, but: Make the encoder Multithreaded! I have a Dual Core CPU and lots of them will be sold the next year cause the CPUs can´t get higher clock rates atm but more cores. Thats why I enjoy TMPGEnc and DVDShrink so much, they are so damn fast on DC. Won´t miss it anymore. Beside this, great Program! CU

Re: Feature Request thread This may already be possible but since I just started playing with ratdvd I'll post it anyway. With hard drives getting bigger and cheaper I would like to have all the functions of ratdvd, metatags, use of media players to play a single file, retaining all the functions of the original dvd. But I would also like the ability to leave the dvd unconverted (not compressed). File size is important if I'm trading dvd's accross a slow connection but if I already own the dvd's and just want a central place to store them and a place where my media players can play them from, size isn't an issue and I'd rather just leave them uncompressed. I love the concept though, it's similar to what the mp3 did to wav files, not only the compression but the information that can be stored in an mp3.

| Re: Feature Request thread We need the ability to EXTRACT subtitle streams from movies without having to go through the entire "convert to DVD" process.
