Extermly Slow Read/Ripping Where are the good DOCS!

My first issue I am trying to resolve is if it lies in my drive for the DVD's. It takes 24+ hours to rip 1 DVD, and thats if it does not error out. I have tried the following movies, Men Of Honor, Office Space, Soprano's Season 4 Disc 1 and Tom Green Happy Subway Monkey Hour.

My setup is:

Asus P5DE Preminum
3.2ghz p4
500GB western digital
Plextor 716AL (the new dual layer one)
ATI Xtream 128MB

When I do a disc and drive untility in roxio it says max read speed is 2X on ANY dvd i put in. I will do a benchmark on it with PCbenchmarker and that shows even less like 0.23X. Is this a problem with the disc literally only being able to be read at 2X? I know i could go buy dvdr and what not that is read able at 16x and the drive IS rated to read at 16X max on any dvd format. How can i tell the format of the DVD?

Tagging does not work anymore since my upgrade to the latest version. I went back to the previous and it still doesnt work. I will hit search and it searched for about 1 second then errors out. Even if you dont have a solution to any of these it would be nice to know if anyone else is or has experianced any of the above.

You can try anydvd and clonedvd2 from slysoft.com-It has a 21 day trial. Or you can use dvd decripter{spelling?} and dvd shrink which are free programs. Hope this helps a little.

Re: Extermly Slow Read/Ripping Where are the good DOCS!

its a dma issue see the dma enabling guide also it mainly depends on bios dma settings so get it checked and make sure its set to auto , and sometimes buggy ide drivers lock the transfer mode to pio that is usally solved by right clicking the ide channel (under ide/ata atapi controllers, in device manager of course) and clicking uninstall and restarting
