SATA DVD Burner w/lightscribe, looking for recommendations

Hi,

My new PC is SATA only. Tried several different IDE -> SATA converters and although the BIOS saw the drive Vista (stupid Vista) would not. So I am unable to get my extra BenQ DW1655 going in the new PC.

Looking for a recommendation for a SATA Lightscribe DVD burner. To me quality of burns is much more important than speed. Hopefully there is something roughly equivalent to the DW1655 in the SATA world.

Many Thanks

Lite-On is the only option, if LS required.
Or one of their clones.
NEC may have one too. That isn't a Lite-On clone.
No idea of model numbers though.

Unfortunately many non Silicon Image chipsets don't work correctly with SATA optical drives which could be a problem if you have chipset other than Silicon Image which means getting an SATA drive may not help. For such a circumstance your only fix may be to get an SATA adapter with Silicon Image chipset.

Hi, The XPS 420 came with a SATA PLDS DH-16A6S. I'm looking to supplement it with a top quality SATA Lightscribe drive.

SATA adapter with Silicon Image chipset.
Can't seem to locate these. Do u have a link?

Thanks

Maybe the 7201S from optiarc, all the 720xA & 7200XS series burn very good, so i'm guessing that the 7201S will do the same thing as well.
