NEC 3550 or Pioneer DVR 110?

I'm buying a new burner and I've heard good things about both models. After searching for both in the Optical Drives forum, it seems that the 3550 is the better drive, but I need to know which would be the better drive for burning Panasonic and Datasafe 8x DVD's.

Re: NEC 3550 or Pioneer DVR 110?

Depends on their real mediacodes and DYEs.

Maybe visit www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia for more info.

The Panasonic Media code is TYG02 and the Datasafe is RITEKG05

Re: NEC 3550 or Pioneer DVR 110?

G05 is not the best quality media, never was.

If the TYG02 is original and authentic, then it's good media.

I think the results would be similar with both drives.
