I bought the HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B DL13 a couple of weeks ago. First, I had problems, which were corrected with new firmware (I upgraded from DL11 to DL13. Problems disappeared. Since then I burned about 20 DVDs (both single and double layered, all Verbatim media), everything was OK. Today I burned 10 more, 5 of them - single layer (all OK), five - DVD+R Double Layer - all of them with errors, they just hang at some spot. That is they burned Ok, there were no errors at all, but when I started to watch them - they hang somewhere 1 hour from beginning. I think it's near the layer break point.

I was doing this:

1. Making an ISO with DVD Decrypter
2. Burning this ISO with DVD Decrypter - using MDS file for layers info

I also tried PGCEdit + ImgBurn combination. And spoiled another DL disk - the sixth one!

Well, what do you think - is it a hardware problem? That of LG drive?

And what would you recommend as the really BEST burner for DVD+R and especially DVD+R DL? I think I'll have to buy a replacement :-(

The problem is gone now when I burn at 2,4 speed. Though both the drive and the media support 4x and 6x speed burning, this is not true, as we see.
