Mr. Kimya95 in Seoul has just got some of them. His feedback: very good at 8x. Up to 16x in Pioneer DVR-A08/108.

seems the orange colored disc have issues on some other brand drives....i got 5 coasters from orange ones already..on the LG 4163..it burns flawlessly..some even hit 12x.....

Post just once, not twice. RITEKG04 and RITEKG05 are OK with GSA-4163B but I wouldn't burn any of my important backups on either of them.

What do low jitter levels look like? Personally I haven't had any really better-looking jitter graphs from other drives.

I'm asking cause my friend just got a 4163 and claims it sounds like an airplane. in the reviews they say it's quiet. my 4120 is quiet. would like to know if this is common or he got a bad one.

He's probably got a lot of computers running at once. Look at his pictures on the Living Room threads.

If you find your 4120 quiet, I guess 4163 will also sound reasonably quiet to you. Unless you always burn at 16x. (16x in GSA-4163 runs at a lot higher RPM than 12x in GSA-4120.)

the 4163B is quiet as far as i am concerned...cause my pcs are noisy....my cooling fans in my systems are a tat loud.......

i dun know what you mean..??..all my disc playback fine on my set top player....no jerky scenes and audio is good..

Same with me. It's difficult to notice a DVD writer making serious noise when one has a lot of fans and drives running at once... well in my case, all bare, no casing at all.
