My current computer has an old Plextor CD drive. It has always had a problem where the eject button often does not work. I checked the firmware upgrades and one upgrade was supposed to fix the problem and does not. I am so tired of the problem that I want to replace the drive. I want it to be fully compatible with Nero and all of its tools (the Plextor was not).

Is there a DVD Writer that is good at CDs? Which is the best? I have an old Pioneer DVR-105 DVD that seems fine. If it would be better to go with just a CD only drive, which is the best?

Some stores still have the CD only drive which should be around half the price of the current DVD drives but they might still ask for almost the price of the DVD. If you can still find it get either Lite-On or Sony, basically any brand should read/write CDs better than the DVD drives. I've tried to put in a few old CDs of different brand (Burned more than 5 years ago) into current DVD drives and most of them could not read it while the older DVD drives can still read it.
