Re: TSSTCorp TS-L632D Problems

Has anyone found a solution the this problem yet. I've been given the file that corrects this by PC world. Its a winrar file called "FilterCheck".
I dont know how it works but it has on my drive and 3 other people's with different makes of drive. You really have to argue to get this from PC world because they dont want to give it away but they has agreed it is a common fault on laptops.

Re: TSSTCorp TS-L632D Problems

Hi and Welcome,

there are different ways to resolve that issue.
At first, it should be started with this MSKB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
For XP users, there is a guided help that should work. For other flavours of Windows, the registry has to be edited manually.
More easily to handle is the "Filter Driver Load Order" option in ImgBurn.

Welcome to CD Freaks.

With what are you trying to burn?

Can you post a log of the failed burns?

Re: TSSTCorp TS-L632D Problems

Can you try to use ImgBurn to burn a disc? You can just make an image with Nero, then burn it with ImgBurn. Then post the log from ImgBurn here.

Post the log of the failed burn.

Do you have any software such as Alcohol, Daemon Tools, CloneDVD, etc. installed? These programs [or Windows Media Player] may precent ImgBurn from getting exclusive access to the drive.

Re: TSSTCorp TS-L632D Problems

Please use imgburn and post the log.
Alternatively you could boot up into SAFE MODE and try again with Imgburn.

Re: TSSTCorp TS-L632D Problems

I just want to confirm that this drive is crap. It now makes coasters for both cds and dvds after only 5 months of moderate usage! The drive is in a x11 Samsung notebook

Hope this helps anyone, looking for a replacement...anyone have thoughts on the LiteOn DS-8A1P-021?

Thanks!

I'm not on this site much, so I just caught your post. I have a Dell with this burner. You can get a firmware update here:
http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=235346

This is the same firmware for the "D" and the "H". The Samsung flasher is included with the download

I am so sorry folks. The above information is absolutely wrong!! DO NOT CROSSFLASH THIS DRIVE! To quote a fellow member:

"Be aware, that Samsung drives with the same name, but made for different computer manufacturers, are very different. The two letter OEM code (yours is TC) must be the same for flawless flashing."

I hope I've not caused anyone problems with my bad information. I will be much more careful in the future.

I've had a similar problem with this drive. Removing the upper and lower filters seemed to help. Here are the directions Dell gave me.

1. In Device Manager delete the burner. To go to device manager, please do the following steps:
a. Hit the "Start" Button.
b. Left click on "Control Panel"
c. Left click on "Switch to Classic View"
d. Double left click on "System" icon
e. Left click on "Hardware" tab
f. Left click on "Device Manager" button
g. Click on the "+" sign next to "DVD/CDROM drives" to expand the entry for that category
h. Right click on the entry that would populate and left click on "uninstall"

2. From Regedit, remove the upper/lower filters. Delete Upper/Lower Filters by doing these:
a. Click on Start --> Run --> and type in 'regedit' followed by the enter key
b. Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or clicking the "+" next to it.)
c. Expand the "SYSTEM" Key
d. Expand the "CurrentControlSet" Key
e. Expand the "Control" Key
f. Expand the "Class" Key
g. Please look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers:
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
h. High light this key by left clicking once on it
i. On the right hand side you are looking for "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" under the "Name" column, once you find these please delete them by right clicking on them and choosing "delete". Please exit the registry by clicking on the "X" in the top right hand corner of the screen then reboot your computer

If you have any questions about doing this procedure, contact Dell!!

You're more than welcome, but don't thank me. There was a post on this topic earlier in this string, and I got the info from Dell. We're both lucky to be part of this forum. And -WELCOME-BTW!

When you have some time, go through this topic as well as others on the board. There's a LOT of information available here and many, many folks who are willing to teach and help. You're part of one of the best forums around!

Re: TSSTCorp TS-L632D Problems

Hi,

I had the same problem, I was not able to burn dvd or cds with this drive.
My toshiba notebook A135 have a TS-L632D fw:TO03 drive.
The problem started happening after I downgraded to Xp from Vista.
Thanks to the suggestion on deleting the lower and upper filters now I can burn cds and dvds again.

Thanks so much.

Re: TSSTCorp TS-L632D Problems

Hey folks
I have a Dell Inspirion E1505 with this TSSTCorp TS-L632D DVD burner. Well it seems like it wants to be fickle and not work. After spending some time searching on the net, I found this place. Well I have tried everything to no avail. Burned movies won't work, Regular movies won't work, CD's won't work. But yet the drive is saying that its ok in the Device Manager? No errors, nothing. Now when I put in a disk, seems like a its clicking or clapping of sorts. If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for the great forum!

Re: TSSTCorp TS-L632D Problems

Hi,

do you have a bootable CD like Ultimate Boot CD, Knoppix, Kanotix etc. at hand?
If so, then try if you can boot your computer off one of such a CD. If that fails also, then there is likely some hardware issue. In case your computer is still under warranty, contact Dell support then.
Is there some diagnostic partition installed on your computer? Press F12 key after powering up your computer to see.
