I can only say use good media. If not TY, then Mitsubishi or Ricoh. What circle? Circles are normal after burning.

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

Yes but there are circlies very distinct and on the circles i get the unreadable parts. There is a specific place the circles apear every time i burn. The first is one inch after start and it is the first problem when reading.

Hm. Having 2nd and 3rd batteries for portable computers is always a good idea I think.

And again, use good media. Taiyo Yuden CD-R media are both cheap and good.

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

Thank you to all for answers and discussions.
I'll share with you, friends, my experience with this burner which I define a little piece of crap. Having regularly problems with samsung TS-L532A (It couldn't burn more than 2-2,4x the most part of support), I decided to flash its firmware to obtain a Toshiba 6472 with TR51 firm. I've accomplished a lot of tests with several supports and here it is the result:
Tayio Yuden 8x +r:burned at 8x,4x,2,4x, burns always successful, discs burned at 8x,4x report ciclic redundancy errors when you try to copy data to hd, discs burned at 2,4x o.k.;
TDK 8x +r:burned at 8x,4x,2,4x, burns always succesful, discs burned at 8x,4x report ciclic redundancy errors when you try to copy data to hd, discs burned at 2,4x o.k.;
Samsung Pleomax 8x +r(Optodisc):burned at 8x,4x,2,4x, burns always successful, discs burned at 8x,4x report ciclic redundancy errors when you try to copy data to hd, discs burned at 2,4x o.k.;
Emtec BASF 8x +r(CMC):burned at 4x,2,4x (burner doesn't recognize 8x), burns always successful, discs burned at 8x,4x report ciclic redundancy errors when you try to copy data to hd, discs burned at 2,4x o.k.;
Philips 8x +r:burned at 8x,4x,2,4x, burns always successful, discs burned at 8x,4x report ciclic redundancy errors when you try to copy data to hd, discs burned at 2,4x o.k.;
Verbatim 8x -r(Mitsubishi Chemical): only one disc burned at 8x, burns successful, copying data to hd disc without errors.
It seems only Verbatim is o.k., but I'm not sure as I've made only one disc, as I'm tired to make coasters with this burner. This burner seems to be able to produce decent burnings only at a speed of 2,4x. What do you think about this fact? Maybe are there any unofficial firmwares to try? Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

Hi to all!

I got my Toshiba slimline notebook burner SD-R6472 now for about one week and have great results in burning DVDs and CD-R!
Look at the PI/PO scans. The scans were done with a plextor PX-716A!

@misiek1963
I think your device is faulty. Go for a RMA!

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

I have used the same discs, anyway I have problems. Firmware is the same, TU51, too. Discs seem to be burned correctly, but when you read them, i.e. copy and paste files you get a ciclic redundancy error. I'm going nuts, as only verbatim MCC discs seem to be read properly. Maybe need I to update drivers of chipset? I don't think the drive is out of order. It should be a software problem. Any advice? Thanks a lot in advance

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

Hi guys, I've recently bought a HP-Compaq NX 9030 with TSST-TS-L532A, but FW version is HP20 (?) but crossflashing to SD-R6472 fails! An error occurrs during flash TR51 (my drive is correct recognized as secondary master).
Fortunately original firmware hasn't been overwritten so my drive still works!

Who can help me?

Thanks.

Crossflashing procedure:

http://users.forthnet.gr/ath/mspant/

- I closed Down All My Applications & CD/DVD Burning Software / Utilities
- I Checked My Current Configuration First (From "Nero InfoTool")
Then I launched "WinVupL532A.exe" Windows Flasher with
TR51.BIN Firmware (drive is a master)

3NR1C0

Have you suceeded in your crossflash of the L532A to the R6472?

How did you determine that the TR firmware is for a master?

I have the same L532A drive and would also like to know which firmware to flash to, TR-51 or TU-51? My L532A came with TI-50.

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

i would say just one thing about f/w change for ts-l532a tsst:

i did the upgrade to tr 51 but nero loose the control of burning phases!

ehhm..i've another one thing to tell you,

if you do the upgrade infotool sees every function of tsl532a active,but on the other side due to the problems with nero,the same dvd burned successfully that you can play into a dvd or a dvix player is not recognized from explorer,or a simple window of xp!in two words,the dvd seems to be empty while is full!

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

I recently purchased this drive. Installed on my NEC laptop.

I had problem burnind DVD movies, all the disc were un-readable.

So, I decide to flash to Toshiba SD-R6472. This drive originall came with TI51 firmware. I flashed to TR51 but failed, fortunately the firmware was not affected. Then I had a second attempt flashed to TU51. The software report the flash was successful.

Now the system recognize the drive as Toshiba, not TSST anymore.

Now the BIGGER problem arised. The dirve will only read and write at 1.3x and still have not successful burned disc. Base on the Nero Infotool, the serial number does not match the drive's serial number.

WHAT HAVE I DONE???? Is this drive dead??? Does anyone have the TI51 firmware so I can flash it back.?? Any input would appreciate. Thanks!

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

Here is what I just found out. After flash to Toshiba, the Drive become to PIO mode under window's setting. Try to switch to DMA but the drive won't do it, I don't konw why.

I found this website

http://kenny.storageinfo.co.kr/firmware/samsung/

Download the SB00 version of the firmware and flash it back to TS-L532A, but the serial number still does not match.

I tried to flash SH00, again, it failed.

Now the system wit running at DMA mode.

I ran out of blank dvds, will have to try again when i buy some more blanks.

Agian, if anyone has a copy of TI51, please e-mail to me. giky@netzero.net

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

Alrite. I have solved my problem. At least I think so.

I have again re-flash the drive back to TU51, which is a master also. I didn't even bother try the TR51 because I know my drive will reject the firmware.

Now, I went into the settings again and the DMA is correct this time. The Nero infotool shows everything it is supposed to be. DL is supported.

I also got a bunch of new media, Ritak and CMC. Both burned excellent.

If you have problem with the burning, I think the media might be the biggest problem. I think this drive is very picky with medias.

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

Hi everybody!

I’ve recently bought a new laptop RoverBook Voyager H751 with TSST TS-L532A DVDRW drive as a detachable module.
Its firmware is TI51. Nero Info Tool recognizes it as DVD +_R/RW DL Recorder but it seems to be able writing only DVD+R DL disks but not DVD-R DL ones. However it’s OK for me at the present.
My main problem is in that this drive tries to record CD-RW 16-24x (Ultra speed) disks only at 10X. And afterwards they become unreadable even in host drive although Nero simulates and records them with no errors. I’ve experimented only with Memorex Ultra speed (16X-24X) CD-RW disks.
As to recording DVD-R disks, I’ve recorded one noname DVD-R at 4x speed successfully and it was readable even in my old slim 8X DVD-rom Hitachi GD- S250 built in Fujitsu Lifebook C6631. It turned out this legacy drive can read only normal DVD and DVD-R disks but not + ones.

Verbatim 4x DVD+RW disks are also written very well by TSST TS-L532A.

I also own another new notebook pc Samsung P28 with TSST combo drive CDW/DVD TS-L462A. Here I experience almost the same problem with writing 24X CD-RWs (Memorex). This time these disks are not recognized as blank and are supposed to be not recordable at all.

Both TSST TS-L532A DVDRW and TSST TS-L462A are stated as Ultraspeed drives with their corresponding signs on the drive trays though.

So I believe one should consider TSST drives a real crap because of their poor firmwares.

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

The max rewrite speed for CD-RW is 10x, so the drive is only a highspeed CD-RW drive. Maybe it will be changed via FW Upgrade or the sign on the front is wrong!

According to the verbatim Homepage, look at the CD-RW Compatibility Guide,

http://www.verbatim-europe.com/index...&change_lang=1

the Ultraspeed and Ultraspeed+ CD-RWs can only be recorded in drives that support that speed, they must be recorded with a min speed of 16x!
So in our drive its only possible to record highspeed CD-RWs with the max speed of 10x or 12x!

best regards

Hi,

Here are the corresponding links to the drive’s specs:
TS-L462A
http://www.samsung.com/Products/Opti...S_L462A_sp.htm
TS-L352/XAA
http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/n...Specifications

As stated by the Manufacturer (TSST) both drives are compatible with CD-RW 24X media for writing. I guess these ODDs have some problems with correct recognition of Memorex Ultraspeed CD-RW disks. Perhaps, other brand media (16-24X CDRW) will be recorded well.

Re: samsung tsst corp TS-L532A slim burner

I'm sorry you're right!
I own the Toshiba SD-R6472 and the specs of this drive is only 10x CD-RW speed!
I though the Toshiba SD-R6472 and Samsung TS-L532A are the same drives with the same specs, but the samsung has a CD-RW speed of 24x!
But btw the drive cannot record the ultraspeed CD-RW with a min speed of 16x, because the drive (my SD-R6472) will burn CDs in ZCLV mode in steps from 8x, 12x, 16x to 24x. So the min speed for this media is only reached at the outer areas of the media!
Maybe the media is not in the drives Firmware!
What's the MID (the manufactor) of the Memorex CD-RWs?
Try another brand like verbatim, maybe they work better!

best regards
