A TRT please. That PIF clusters are very creepy.

Overall a very good burn at that speed ( 20x ).

Re: Samsung SH-S203B so CLOSE!!

zebadee, could you please do a quality scan with your new Samsung ? (ideally a disc you already scanned with you LiteOn, so we can compare it).
Also you could do a TRT of a very scratched disc. I wonder if the excellent reading abilities of the S18x series were retained....

Congratulation.

BTW, Lite-On's have a lot to learn from Samsung it seems.

Edit, does booktype change to DVD-ROM work with CD/DVD Speed?

Hi
I can't at present. The drive is prevented from doing this. In Vista I don't know of way round it.

Hi
Yes it is one of the fastest, in fact I believe it is the fastest!
Thanks.
I said it does bitset from CD/DVDSpeed see post # 21 .However I've experimented more & it doesn't the f/w appears to have set permanently to DVD-ROM for DVD+R/RW/DL.
Yep my LH-20A1P is as quick (apart from the lengthy leadin/leadouts. So something here. I think this is what you're referring to pinto2.

Awesome. A burn at 20x fast as LG and with good quality and readability.
LG and Liteon must be afraid of it.

If new firmwares from Samsung increase the number of media suported at 18x and 20x it will be the number one drive for that generation.

Hi
The above worked for XP Pro but not Vista Ultimate. Get as far as Nero Toolkit then just DriveSpeed shows up!

Re: Samsung SH-S203B so CLOSE!!

Zebadee,

Is SH-S203B suffer from the same lead-in problem as 182M ?

I believe that is an major negative point from previous generation of Samsung drives and is significative to buy the drive or not.

Hi
I have a 182 & thought that f/w had this sorted.
The 203 is definately a better drive alround & doesn't appear to have any probs with leadin etc.

8x burn with Ritek G05.

Scan

Another question to zebadee,

To achieve this burn times, how long is the leadin / leadout ?

That's normal for Mediatek based drives. And quality is better in +R too.

This drive seems to be my next buy.
