New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Download from here: http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/LiveUp...FWDownload.asp Just when I had given up on getting any more TS-H552U firmware and sold my drive, here we go with some new stuff. The strange part of it all is I accidentially ordered another TS-H552U on my way to ordering a SH-W162C so I guess I can continue my testing of the TS-H552U as well.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares The download link for the TS-H552U US07 firmware .BIN file is messed up. As a result their liveupdate utility fails to download the file, and the download link does not provide the .BIN firmware file. I have emailed Samsung and hopefully they will fix the problem soon.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Updated my drive to US07 and there's still PIF bombs on Prodisc F01 media just like before with US06. Blah, I am not impressed...I think I'll return this TS-H552U I ordered by accident. In case anyone is wondering, my tests on Fuji branded Prodisc F01 media from the same spindle with the SH-W162C TS10 provided near-identical results to the same media burned on my 4163B A105. Samsung needs to get their butt in gear with fixing this drive's brutal DVD-R write quality.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Well I am pleased to announce that Fuji branded TYG02 8x DVD-R just burned with no POF errors with US07 firmware, albeit with a higher PIE rate and nearly double the PIF rate of US06. Jitter was lower by about 0.50% and the qscore was 92 so there is some progress being made. I also tested the read curve and it was perfect at 12x max on my Pioneer DVR-110D 1.37.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Interestingly, real Fuji branded TYG02 burned the Nero data disc ten secs faster and without POF's with US07 vs US06, but burning Osidisk 8x DVD-R (which uses the TYG02 code) burns 14 secs slower with the new firmware. Its burn speed with US06 was identical to real TYG02 on US07.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Similar behaviour with my Osidisk TYG02 media (higher PIE/PIF, less POF's), but POF's still occurred as well as terrible PIE/PIF levels. Results can be viewed in the mfg suggestion thread.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Memorex branded DVD-R 16x CMC AM3 are showing the same symptoms, except there is a MASSIVE increase in POF's (> 65,000 up from ~1,000 with US06) and over quadruple the PIF's. As usual, the errors are around the same point where the CLV mode change is on 8x media, but this is a 16x CAV burn. Burn speed has improved immensely from 5:51 to 5:23 but they appear to be pushing the drive way too hard...the nasty scan will be posted in the mfg suggestion thread. Weirdly enough it seemed to read back ok on my DVR-110D, so maybe I will post an error rate scan with that drive as well.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Verbatim 24x CD-RW media burned on the TS-H552U US07 had nearly 1/2 the amount of C1 errors as discs burned with US06, so Samsung seems to have tweaked the CD writing as well. Unfortunately the jitter on this media increased by over 2% and is near 15% now.

No read- in recognition CD when inserting CD with recorded data under 5 min mini disc. 2. Audio jumping when inserting another disc after ejecting contained disc during playing DVD. http://www.samsungodd.com/Lib/popup/...W162L_TS01.BIN Improvement : Ocurred an error & deterioration of image quality during printing by LS media.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Yes, that is correct. In case you haven't read too much in this group yet, I would recommend avoiding DVD-R media with this drive even with US07 applied.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Hi, I downloades and installed US07 version. Later on I discovered that my drive is a TS-H552U/CSWN and the firmware does not support "vendor" CSWN. May I roll back to version US05 (the one originally installed in the drive)? I'm having some trouble with the drive to recognize certain DVD-R disks that it could read before....

| Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Samsung's "vendor" designation hardly affects end users. It's usually only for their regional distributors.

Re: New TS-H552U US07, TS-H552B TS11 and SH-W162L TS01 firmwares Hi, I'm new to this forum (and not technical...) I've got a TS-H552U US03 version and would like to know if I should upgrade to US07 (or US06)? Also, does anyone have suggestions what DVD+R 16X and DVD+RW 4x media to use with good results on this drive. Thanks a lot for any suggestions. Peter (from Holland)
