S*-S16x series: 16x, several chipsets, with DVD-RAM support
S*-S18x series: 18x, Mediatek chipset, with DVD-RAM support
S*-S20x series: 20x, Mediatek chipset, with DVD-RAM support See also attached specs document below
S*-S22x series: 22x, Mediatek chipset, with DVD-RAM support

For SATA drives, Silicon Image based cards (non-RAID) are often recommended.
