Re: Ever heard of this Drive TSST TS-L632B ?

Hello Kenshin

I believe this drive has LG firmware in it and may even be called an LG drive
but windows XP says it is a TSST corp TS L632B

maybe LG are using these as OEM drives ???

Greetings from 'Down Under' folks. Does anyone know how to unlock the region codes on this drive? I have purchased a Toshiba Satellite and would like to be able make the drive multizone.

Re: Ever heard of this Drive TSST TS-L632B ?

I have a TS-L632B drive in my Acer 4402WLMi, it reads CD-ROM's just fine however it will not recognize most of my DVD's, DVD-R's and says my DVD+R's are CD-R's. Does anyone know where I can find firmware for this drive (to include what firmware is on there right now?). I have tried Samsung, Toshiba and TSST websites but no luck there.

Thanks,
Clyde

Re: Ever heard of this Drive TSST TS-L632B ?

Hello there; I have the same setup as yourself. I'd suggest you inspect the bundled software, looking for "NTI DVD maker ver. 7.0.0". I've had success copying from HD to a DVDRW without any problem, but native XP Pro. driver doesn't seem to work, similar results as yourself. I'm wondering if the drive would also run trouble free under Nero or Roxio software. I do have Roxio "Easy media creator Ver. 8" but haven't installed it yet on the Acer. Will get a change by next weekend.
Take care,

catsidney

Re: Ever heard of this Drive TSST TS-L632B ?

Hi Guys and Gals

It is particularly interesting that all the versions of firmware seen so far end with the digits 30
for example either LG30 or TS30 or TI30 etc
I believe the first two characters represent the company name of the notebook the unit is mounted in
say LG30 for drive in LG laptop
or TS30 for drive in Toshiba laptop
or TI30 for texas instruments laptop
but the firmware is the same in every case
as there have never been any updates to the original firmware
there has never been a need to provide a link to it
only the dangerous brothers might provide a firmware at RPC1
if enough people ask for it, but i think that unlikely as there are not many
people with this drive

regards

Bernie

Re: Ever heard of this Drive TSST TS-L632B ?

I know that there is only one firmware revision, but my problem is that my L632B came with TI30 (acer notebooks) and i upgraded it to TO33 from the link above in this thread. After that it has writing problems, calibration errors. I'm looking for the TI30 bin to recover the drive.
I don't know if is possible to extract the bin file from a recorder with TI30 revision, is there any tool?

Re: Ever heard of this Drive TSST TS-L632B ?

Hi Ghunga

When you ran the update software did it give you an option to save the original firmware, I know most dont but some do.
if so someone with the old version might be able to do this and send you the old .bin file by mail
