Re: CDFreaks presents: Samsung SH-S203B DVD Burner review Hi all, i am new to this forum, I yesterday bought a SH 203 . I have got to say I am very impressed by the DVD write speeds, the entire dvd was written in 4.5 minutes( 20x speed). nice.........!! However when I wrote another dvd ( had around 25 divx files, 175 mb each) at 4 x speed my sony dvd player had a tough time reading it. I was using Moser Baer cds in both the cases .Dunnow where the problem is and why it happened ! Any comments on this one ?

Re: CDFreaks presents: Samsung SH-S203B DVD Burner review MrMoody's Mini Review: Samsung SH-S203B Burning: DVD-R: Excellent (even cheap media) DVD+R: Excellent (especially class A/B 16X) DVD-RW: Excellent (all speeds) DVD+RW: Mediocre (high errors, standalone compatibility requires bitsetting which can't be defaulted) DVD+R DL: Poor (coasters even on MKM001 MIS at 2.4X, error spike at layer break, bitsetting can't default) CD-R: Excellent CD-RW: Good (some media not well speed supported) Reading: Burned DVDs: Very Good (even +R DLs)(could be faster) Burned CDs: Excellent Pressed DVDs: Unreliable (one scratched disc gave intermittent corrupted data without error failure, both playing and ripping) Pressed CDs: Excellent Other: Scanning: Good (reliable results but no jitter test) Firmware support: Mediocre so far (could improve but probably won't) Summary: Great at some things, useless for others, worthwhile if you have another different drive for the things it doesn't do well. I'd buy it again only as a 2nd burner.

Re: CDFreaks presents: Samsung SH-S203B DVD Burner review I think Truedirect is the main difference see here: http://www.samsungodd.com/Eng/Produc...evel_idx=4418# The N has only 12x read DVD-R Dual like the P Only the B can read 16x Are the drives able to read faster with the codekings firmware? Food for thought: The drives can write DVD+R DL faster than read???

| Re: CDFreaks presents: Samsung SH-S203B DVD Burner review Dee's review shows EAC reporting no audio caching, but the cdrlabs review shows EAC reporting the opposite. Anyone know which is correct? /MLS

Re: CDFreaks presents: Samsung SH-S203B DVD Burner review With an auto-bitsetting firmware this drive would be perfect... Is there a way to make bitsetting permanent and not software related with this drive or does it need a firmware modification?
