I bougth SH-S203B with F/W SB00.As I checked with CD/DVD Speed 4.7.7.5 it can,t supports qaulity test (Start button was dim) and bitsetting.What is problem ? Can any one reply ?

Many thanks for your reply.Quality scanning problem solved but bit setting no and I can not find answer or help.you mentioned SH-S203B set bit setting automatically for DVD+R DL but when burned a DVD+R DL it's booktype was DVD+R DL and no DVD ROM and when I try change bit setting with CD/DVD speed 4.4..3 I receive errore (Setting book type faild) for all 3 type of DVD.Can you help me ?

The drive supports full Bitsetting but requires a command from the burning application to set booktype DVD-ROM.

Is there a BEIGE version of the drive available in the USA, as shown in this review? I can only find black version. Newegg, Mwave, and other stores only have black version. Or is there any beige face plates?

The only beige faceplates I've seen have come with retail packages not oem.
However I am in the UK.
The retail pack I saw had three faceplates. Beige, Black & Silver.

Well, either way, I just installed anydvd and put it on the "fast & noisy" setting.

Took a screenshot of a pressed DL DVD being ripped with dvd shrink + anydvd, and had some fun with irfanview filters

Doesn't seem to want to go above 11 megabytes/sec. Still, that's pretty fast.

Hi, I would like to know if this Samsung is a picky reader or not.

I have some burnt CDs and DVDs that my current GSA-4163B can't read (but a DVD-Rom drive and laptop DVD burner reads them fine).

I might buy this Samsung if it reads any disc put into it.

this drive is a good reader for bad discs, but there is no drive that can read "any disc put into it". My 182D is slightly better, IMO.

Just got this drive yesterday, well mine is the N model but that is just the fact it has light scribe on it as well. Hope to be able to use it this Tuesday if any titles are worth getting.
