simulation fails - nerolinux 3

Hello:

I had a problem with neroLINUX 3.0.0.0 on openSUSE 10.2.
I wanted to test my DVD writer and started a simulated writing.
That is, in the 'burn' dialog the 'simulate' box was turned on alongside the 'write' and 'finalize CD" checkboxes.
I created a new DVD with UDF filesystem and started the burn/simulation. I did not let nero finish the process but aborted the simulation. After this I noticed that my DVD was ruined and parts of the files were written on it, so nero did not simulate writing but burned the DVD instead.
I do not know if this happens only when UDF filesystem is choosen and I do not want to try it. I don't want to ruin other DVDs.

If this is a bug than it should be fixed ASAP.

Re: simulation fails - nerolinux 3

Which kind of DVD were you using? A DVD+R ? a DVD-R ?
You have to keep in mind that simulation is not possible on DVD+R and DVD+RW media... but in such case, Nero should definitly tell you that.

If you go in your homedir, in the .nero folder, you will find a 'NeroHistory.log' file. You can then attach it to this thread so that we could have a deeper look what happened.

I used DVD+R

I did not know this.

I can not recall any warning message.

>you will find a 'NeroHistory.log' file
I checked that file and found information related to this:

<<06:28:06 PM #6 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3768
Simulation not possible for this type of disc. Skipping simulation.>>

However I can't remember any warning messages that said the same.
I did not follow the messages in the messages window though.

Nevertheless I attach the related part of the log file.
Thanks for your help,
IG
