Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

Sorry. I use debian (Ubuntu). Should have linked to download page. You should be able to figure out where to go or wait til mathf posts link. BTW, I can't tell any difference between 2.0.0.5 and 2.1.0.0 as far as functions go. Wonder what's new in this new release?

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

I've found a bug with nerolinux 2.1.0.0. Whenever I try to import a session via a DVD+RW disc the program basically freezes (no successful import). I had to go back to 2.0.0.5 to get importation to work again. Anyone else having this problem?

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

Haven't tried it yet...but the "big" change from what I understand is a completely new API
for this version....mathf will chime in soon, I'm sure...

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

Yes basically what is new in this version is the API. We have switched to NeroAPI 6.6.1 (instead of 6.6). There some large differences, like with Unicode support (yes, NeroLINUX internally deals with Unicode to handle item names)... and of course with the low-level burn engine itself.
Talking about new features, we have integrated CD-overburn. We also fixed some crashes that was occuring with old samba drivers and very large files (>8 GB).

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

We are currently investigating on it... You are sure that with exactly the same disc, NL 2.1.0.0 is freezing and NL 2.0.0.5 not ?

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

Yes, same disc. Actually any DVD+RW data disc I might use. Like I said 2.0.0.5 works fine as far as importing goes. 2.1.0.0 basically freezes up. I had to reboot in order to totally close out NeroLinux after it froze.

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

Mathf,
I should clarify the word "froze" or "freeze". What I mean is the program is trying to import the saved data on my DVD+RW disc but the process is so slow it would literally take hours to complete. Seeing that the process is incredibly slow I click "Cancel". One time NeroLinux closed out after clicking Cancel while another time it refused to close out thus I had to reboot.

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

Ok... The problem has been discovered, and fixed. This was caused by our Unicode to MultiByte new conversion routine that was prompting the wrong input size for the grabbed Unicode string. We will release a new version including this fix very soon.
Just to be sure that we are talking about the same stuff, the application was getting _really_ slow when importing data, and when the import operation finished, the results where somehow weird (inifnite directories loop etc...) ?

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

hi

thanks for the new version,
but in all those months you were not able to move this to gtk2?
If nerolinux would win a price, then for the most ugliest linux app.

I personally don't care about how pretty it looks, for apps I just care how functional and stable it is. Looks are just a nice side effect. I use this app all the time, and I'm very thankful it is available for Linux. My only request for the future would be an app like Nero Express.

Also, mathf, any idea when the update to 2.1.0.0 with the previously mentioned fix will be released?

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

Point one from my perspective: GTK2: Nice but not essential...I'm with slee on this,
however, I see a day when it will be GTK2. One of the most used applications in Linux
for me is gnucash...which is still GTK1!!!! But it works! I know that version 2 will
be GTK2...but function over pretty is a good priority. I use NeroLinux A LOT.

Point two: I still haven't installed 2.1.0.0 yet...I'm out of town...I will and then I'll
do 2.1.0.0a or whatever they are going to call the patched version...that was amazing
how fast they found and fixed (apparently) bjgood's bug....I mean...ONE DAY? WOW...I look forward to the new version...

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

All versions of NeroLINUX, including the newest 2.1.0.0, does not preserve folder dates on burned CDs or DVDs but change their dates to the current time instead.
I think folder dates (creation or modification) are important properties enough so that they should be preserved on the burned media.
Is it difficult to make NeroLINUX so that it would preserve the folder dates?
Or wasn't this an issue so far only?

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

don´t get me wrong.
I´m gratefull, that this version exists.
Its the only program in Linux, which can burn UDF DVDs with >4GB Files on it.
It could just look a little bit nicer. Thats all.

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

Should be done in the next couple of weeks... at least before end of the month. I will keep you informed when it will be online.
BtW, this patched version will be numbered 2.1.0.1.

Re: New NeroLinux is out 2.1.0.0

Yes, thanks for that, mathf. Well. That means I won't have to come here, at least for the next two weeks, 5 times a day, EVERY day, hoping the new release might be posted (like I did the last two weeks). .

Have a good day.

I agree: first comes function, then comes form. (Though there are minor things in the GUI which bug me a little.) And I do not agree that NeroLINUX is one of the ugliest apps.
