LVW 5005 drive locked

I bought my Liteon DVD Recorder/Player LVW-5005 about a year ago.
It was recording/playing fine.
However, lately, when I was trying to play it, Unfortunately, that the DVD disc drive door could not eject (open). I tried
so hard but only can see it displays OPEN with the click noice, than the displays turned to LOAD and changed to NO DISC. and the drive door never open or eject. (There are no disc inside it).

I called Lite-on Customer Services at 1-888-854-8366 and sent e-mail to
dc_support@liteonit.com for help or just let me know where's the near repair shop. Unfortunately, no responses at all.

Please HELP . Are there any hints for this kind problems? or where can I find the good service to fix it with the reasonable price?

Thanks a lot for your HELP.

Re: LVW 5005 drive locked

You are not alone, I have had this same proble with two 5005's. I just finished recording a movie, then it would not stop properly. after a while I unpluged the unit, after that all I get is "HELLO". The door will not open. I took off the cover and took the cover off the DVD writer inside to get out the DVD. Now it still wont work. I plan to return it to the store and get a swap for my 3rd burner...

I still love the 5005 but at some point I know it will die again....

I have had the same issue, and I think I found a bit of a fix. Open up your recorder & take off the top of your drive. You will have to take off the metal shroud and the plastic top cover. Then plug in your unit and press eject. If the drawer opens, put in a disc you don't care about too much. and gently hold it in as the drives spins up. If this works, leave the disc in and re-asssemble the drive. Check that the drive will eject and load before you re-assemble the whole unit. If so, then put it back together and keep your fingers crossed, I wouldn't leave the drawer empty anymore, or you might have to repeat these steps. It kind of sucks to have to do this, but it might work for you.

Re: LVW 5005 drive locked

Same thing happened here. I took the case apart. Unscrewed the metal housing around the DVD drive. Tossed it. I then measured where the manual eject button rests when the drive assembly is mounted. I drilled a hole in the face of the 5005. Now, whenever the drive sticks, I use a small rod and manually eject the disk.
