Hi I just bought the liteon 5005 from my local argos and find that it doesnt switch automatically to 16:9 mode when watching dvd's. I am using a bush 28" widescreen tv and that autoswitches fine with my sky digibox. I have the dvd connected directly to the tv using an ixos scart cable and have tried both scarts on the tv and made sure 16:9 is selected in the dvd setup. Does this work for anyone or is mine faulty? Thanks

I know in my setup, the TV must support and be set to 16:9, then the DVD Player has a menu to be set to 16:9, and of course you must tick the menu in the 5005 when burning to burn at Progressive and 16:9, so its an annoying 3 menu's that had to be set, and 2 of which are always changed btw TV and DVD player btw 16:9 & 4:3, check your DVD player settings as well, the 5005 made me working copies in 16:9 so the feature does work.

Hi thanks for replying, I have actually found some more info on this player and it seems it doesnt autoswitch when it receives a 16:9 signal. I already have the 5005 set to 16:9 but when i play an anamorphic dvd it should automatically stretch the picture on the tv but it still displays in a 4:3 window, i then have to manually select 16:9 on the telly. I know the telly support this function cos it says so in the manual and my sky box will automatically expand any 16:9 broadcast it detects no matter what the tv format is. Ive also come across another bug where if you have stopped a dvd playing and it marks the spot where it stopped, when you turn on the player again and it resumes after a few minutes it will jump back to the spot where it resumed from and then continue playing. This happened on 2 separate dvds, atm im testing further for any other problems
