The worst thing about being lied to is knowing you weren't worth the truth. There's a lot of lying and these are people who are incredibly flawed, and not in very sort of empathetic ways, either. Some of the things they do are pretty awful and some of the things they do to each other are pretty awful.-Will Arnett

Re: What's the thing you're most proud of?

This is a tough question. Probably one of the moments in me life I am most proud of is stopping to help an elderly couple that had pulled to the shoulder of a busy section of Interstate 95 in Virginia near Washington, DC. I thought their car had broken down and when I stopped it became quickly apparent that the man (in his 70s) was suffering from an episode of dementia and became violent with his wife while in the car so she pulled over. He then became belligerent with me and ran out into three lanes of traffic on I-95. It is amazing how fast your mind can think in these circumstances and in just a matter of a second or two I decided I couldn't stand there and watch him get run over. I had about 10-15 seconds to get him out of the road before the next wave of traffic was upon us. I figured either he would either get hit or cause a massive traffic accident from the cars trying to avoid him. In seconds I formulated a plan and decided that I would first try to drag him from the road and if that failed I would have to slug him hard enough to knock him out and then try and drag him off the road. I ran to him before he knew what was going on and got behind him and then put him in a bear hug. The sucker grabbed my little finger on my right hand and damn near broke it! I was able to force him to the shoulder and then by putting all my weight on him he fell to the ground. I sat there behind him for about 10 minutes until the police and ambulance came. We talked about fishing, where he was from in upstate New York etc. like nothing had just occurred. His wife was basically paralyzed with fear and in hysterics the whole time. I couldn't even get her to use the cell phone that was hard mounted in my car (this was over ten years ago) to call for help.

Why this makes me proud is that I think we all like to think we would do the right thing in an emergency even if it put us at personal risk. When I was put in a situation to test this I was proud of myself in that I thought the situation through very quickly and decided I couldn't live the rest of my life knowing I stood by and watched this man die even though he was a total stranger to me without trying to help him, even if I might die trying to save him. Having gone through this is one reason I so respect members of the military that have fought in war zones because they make decisions like this of much greater danger and magnitude, to themselves on a regular basis and it is to be commended.

My incredibly large penis! ROTFLMAO

Seriously though, my son. The one thing in my life that no matter how bad things are or pissed off I am that can always make me smile.

I love life...Yeah, I'm sad, but at the same time, I'm really happy that something could make me feel that sad. It's like...It makes me feel alive, you know. It makes me feel human. The only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt something really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good. So I guess what I'm feeling is like a beautiful sadness.

Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air.

The truth can be found here http://jhtalisman.blogspot.com/

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for the want of an understanding ear. - Stephen King, intro to "The Body."

Well, one thing is I decided at the age of 32 to go get my GED. And at my little graduation ceremony, I was a keynote speaker, which, to me was pretty impressive
